She Does It Again

It's been a long time since the token conservative at the Minneapolis Star Tribune pissed me off. I guess she was saving it all up for today. Check out this column. Click here to read it.

For those of you who don't remember, I wrote a column on this very subject last year. Click here to read it.

Normally I don't respond to people like Ms. Kersten because it's like....oh, I dunno...having a conversation with an empty Styrofoam cup but I decided to send her the following email. Think I will get a reply?

Ms Kersten,

Your column today is a shining example of someone who lives in a cocoon of
unreality. If you had actually taken the time to do research on the
Reichstag Fire you would've seen the striking similarities between that
incident and 9-11.

Take off your neocon blinders and see that the people that you support are
criminals who will stop at nothing in their greedy pursuit of wealth and
power. One of things that I have always admired about the conservative
message is its adherence to morality and the law. Apparently, our current
administration is excused from both of these principles and get away with
pretty much whatever they want...thanks to people like you and columns like
you wrote today.

There is no doubt in my mind that, at the very least, people in Cheney land knew that 9-11 was coming and let it happen. They chalk it up to incompetence but let's face some facts: you don't become the most powerful nation on the planet without being somewhat intelligent.

What tends to happen in situations such as this, Kersten's column demonstrates this, when someone starts to question the "official" version of events then they are labelled a loony. It's a knee jerk reaction. Then everyone says, yep, can't trust what this person says. So then there is no more questioning and we all line up like good little sheep. Ripe for slaughter.

i didn't read last year's column of ms. kersten's that mighta pissed you off, but this one actually seems pretty fair & balanced :-) (or foxie..as an OPINION -- that i don't necessarily agree with..) compared to opinionful talk radio and some 'conservative' tv shows, God she's a polite angel with a phD.

Grassy, There are so many questions that I have about 9-11 I don't even know where to begin. Unlike some people that post here, I am not going to sit back and believe everything my government tells me. At the same time, I'm not going to believe everything conspiracy theory I've ever heard about 9-11.

Most assuredly, though, there are things we don't know about and I think the reason for the cover up is far more than just hiding incompetence.

There is no doubt that this administration exploited 9-11 for its own agenda. Did they know it was coming? Probably. Did they care? No.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it - George Santayana.

Seems somewhat applicable. Those that disagree will simply say that the fire and the events afterward were misinterpreted. Everything is relative when viewed through the political lens, there are no facts there is only confusion. As long as there is confusion there are those who will follow the voice that is the loudest, whatever it is that is being said. It's not about stupidity or gullibility, it is simply human nature, especially when that nature has not been tempered with logic.

People were confused after 9-11, things didn't make sense for a brief period and it was during that time that the loudest voices sent us on our current path. Those voices had been looking for just such an opportunity...a chance for the New American Century to be instituted. Here we are...enjoy!

Did Kersten respond to you? I guess not. Bummer.

No, not yet. But she never really responds to anyone. I think she realizes how little she knows about the issues that she brings up and doesn't really want to be taken to the mat and lose.
