"I Hope He Fails"

These were the four words uttered by Rush Limbaugh on his radio program yesterday in regards to Obama's economic plans.

Setting aside the fact for just a moment that if President Obama does fail that will mean a worse economic situation than we have now, I think Rush is beginning to sound desperate. Odd, because he still gets around a 5 share which, in radio lingo, is pretty amazing in ratings . Obama HAS to fail because if he doesn't or even if he is marginally successful it proves that Rush and other conservatives are wrong (see: End Times).

It is absolutely unconscionable that Rush Limbaugh, in this truly challenging and uncertain time, wants the president of the United States to fail. Doesn't he have even the slightest sensitivity for the people in this country that are hurting right now? If he is the patriot he claims to be, he will set aside his own hubris and attempt to be helpful.

Think he'll do it?

Why do you listen to Rush; are you some kind of masochist?

Rush just spelled it out for everyone, he doesn't care about you or our country, only his rightwingnut ideology: Republicans first, America second (or third, or fourth, or not at all).

Obama has made it well known what his priorities are going to be. First, fixing the economy by shoring up the banking and auto industry and providing a stimulus package to stop the job losses. Next, to wrap up the war in Iraq and to properly manage the one in Afghanistan. Then, to make our nation more energy independent, creating new job markets and technology the US can lead the world in. Also, to stop torturing people and restoring a just justice system to ensure we live up to our American ideal insuring everyone basic, and proper human rights.

When Rush says he hopes Obama fails, does that mean he against these things? Would he rather people economically suffer under Obama, prisoners continue to be tortured, our country's industries continue to do poorly or fail, our country be dependent on other 3rd world countries for energy if it means that the way to solve these problems conflicts too much with his ideology? Or does he just want to mockingly say, "Ha ha!"?

That seems to be the case. Rush Limbaugh, portrait of a typical, selfish, me-first-and-you-last ideologue. Is he the "new" voice of the Republican Party? Seems like the old voice to me. I've been hearing that voice for the last 8 years.
