Wait For It

President Obama spoke today at a rally in Ft Meyers, Fl to pitch his stimulus package to the American people. Ft Meyers has been hit hard by foreclosures so the audience was filled with people in economic trouble.

He took questions and the woman at left, Henrietta Hughes, got up and told him how rough her life had been lately. I predict the right will pile on her like flies on shit in the next 48 hours. She is a perfect example of who they love to rip apart. Let's keep an eye out, shall we?

You cant be this gullible markadelphia -
----------------------

You know you cannot just “enter” an Obama town hall meeting. They give out tickets in advance. Who gets the tickets? People who stand in line and wait. Who tells people when and where Obama will appear next? Certainly not the Secret Service who has to protect this man. Not the MSM, who are too busy telling us how great he is without asking any critical questions.

Sooooo… how does a 61 year-old homeless woman who’s living in a pickup truck with her son JUST HAPPEN to get a ticket so she can VERY PUBLICALLY ask Prez. Obama for a HOUSE? Anyone? She’s right at the front of the crowd. Did she just happen to get a seat there?

Now, within moments of this happening, it’s trumpeted all over the news. AND, surprise, surprise, the wife of State Representative Nick Thompson, Chene Thompson JUST HAPPENS to have a spare house worth $150,000 lying around, so she GIVES it to this unemployed, homeless, living-in-a-truck woman. They’ve been homeless for “more than a year”, which coincidentally, predates the current housing and banking crisis by quite a while. How did they learn about the “Obama Town Hall and Tent Revival”? Were homeless people simply rounded up? Did someone pre-canvas the area in search of “great, tear-jerking stories”? Of all the people in the audience, SHE’S one of the ones Obama chooses to ask a question?

BTW-the taxes which will be charged on this “free house” will bankrupt the poor woman. Taxes are levied based on the home’s assessed value, not on the basis of it being a “free gift”.

On a second, double-snort, the last guy who gets to ask a question JUST HAPPENS to be a 19-year-old kid of Hispanic descent who’s going to Edison State College (free tuition perhaps for in-state students?) and has worked at McDonalds for FOUR AND A HALF YEARS. By my math, he started working there when he was 14! Florida child-labor law infraction, anyone? McDonalds DOES offer health care plans. You have to PAY for it, just like everyone else in the country does. It’s OPTIONAL. It’s not a God-given right.

Oh forget it, we can't ask questions like this. Are you really this gullible? You mean you swallowed that whole scene as truth?

It's hilarious. I can't believe how resentful some people are. There's no humanity in them, not a single drop. Thank you so much for pointing that out sara. The previous Administration would never ever ever IN A ZILLION YEARS allow a homeless grandmother to ask a question to the President. They not only vetted the ordinary public (who were light years away from the possibility,) they vetted longterm reporters and their questions before news coneferences. So the fact that a HOMELESS grandmother can say that to a 'vetter' and get a front row seat and actually GET TO ASK the president, her leader, a question -- is all made up cynical trollope, not a new reality, that HOMELESS or ordinary low income ppl could gasp, be treated as equal human beings and given rights to speak to the untouchables. She made the whole thing up, she's a liar, the prez set it all up, she doesn't live in her truck and isn't representative of millions of others in a crappy, shit economic recession thanks to so many crappy, shit political-economic decisions. give me a break. keep reading michelle malkin sw. no wonder u don't have a brain. joanne.

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't "pile on her" or "rip her apart" because I don't know her (that coming from someone who has said, on his own blog, that he would "bitch-slap evangelicals for enforcing their nazi-esque morals on him", calling a soldier serving in Iraq a brainwashed douchebag for disagreeing with Hillary Clinton, and who "laughed out loud" when someone he disagrees with politically gets shot in the face...the sudden calls for civil discourse ring very hollow to me). Don't you have any ideas to talk about or is it always other people?

What I will pile on is the entitlement mentality of people in this country....from CEO's wanting government bailouts to people wanting free stuff from the government to my gf's son who thinks he should get a new phone for free from Sprint simply because Sprint is a multi-million dollar corporation.

and for the record, I'm now curious about the questions raised in sw's post (which all of you have conveniently ignored). I completely reject the pc notion that we can't question certain people of our society, or that some victims so virtuous that they are above questioning.

When the heck did "treated as equal human beings" mean getting a free house from the government? That's a new definition of equality, thanks for the update.

That's not what i meant by "treated as equal human beings" -- i meant the notion that a homeless person from the streets or a 'small vehicle' as she put it, for her 'home' can ask the president of the United States a question at an event -- that that can ONLY be a SET-UP -- is lacking in knowledge of everything. By treated as an equal human being, i meant this president's treatment of others, and his being open to questions from Joe the Plumber (SET UP but fair enough in a campaign) to Royalty and Presidents, the Homeless people and the Rich -- that's treating people as equals, listening to all voices with an open mind and without predjudice. Ofcourse the President's campaign people or security detail check out front row ppl at an event -- but did they set her up? Did they create her? Does she exist? Are her circumstances real? Do others like her exist? Did they feed her her lines or were they real? Is she his distant cousin twice removed? NO. They KNEW she was homeless - sure, very possible. They allowed her to a seat AT the FRONT and to ask a question. I'm glad we have a President who gives Fox News an interview 2 weeks into office (the last wouldn't dream of giving a critical station an interview THREE years into office) answers questions from anyone and when asked for his help, offers it. joanne.

Unless we know what happened to Ms. Hughes that caused her to become homeless, nobody should have any business making assumptions or casting aspersions on her. For all we know she may have become homeless through a job loss or foreclosure and I don't think that everyone who ends up homeless is stupid, shiftless, lazy, or just looking for a handout. That being said, 80% of the people in foreclosure got that way because of poor choices they made...they didn't do their homework enough to know that the A in ARM stands for Adjustable, they bought more house than they could afford, they are laden with credit card debt, they live beyond their means, or they are like my sister who has taken out 2 home equity loans and currently owes more on her house than it is worth (I guess some people just have to have that new deck).

Joanne, you just admitted that the first half of SW's post is true - that they knew who she was and that Obama calling on her was not random. Are the rest of you stopping there also?

I guess I'm reverting back to "Trust but verify". Going back to entitlement mentalities, you have that lady who just had octuplets setting up a website asking for donation from the public and you have a number of folks from the flight that went down in the Hudson publicly claiming that a $5000 check from the airline wasn't ehough for them.

I have nothing against Ms. Hughes and I hope things work out for the best for her but lets verify before we insult people (sw) or claim that what you all saw wasn't staged (yippy dogs).

i stand by my insult which now applies to you too, Last in Line. Lacking a discerning (or open) mind except when it comes to yipping the purely political line, that it must be stage. & if you correctly re-read my words (let me paste them 4 u) ' Ofcourse the President's campaign people or security detail check out front row ppl at an event -- but did they set her up?' that definitely doesn't 'admit that the first half of SW's post is true.' joanne.

What political line am I yipping? Trust but verify? That's not what I call lacking an open mind, it's quite smart if I say so myself. I wish more people verified things a little more often (read - Duke lacrosse case).

I never said the event was staged, re-read my posts in this thread.

You also said "They KNEW she was homeless - sure, very possible. They allowed her to a seat AT the FRONT and to ask a question.", which lead me to believe that you don't think this was too random up to that point.

A co-worker just told me her son is 37 years old and that State Rep Nick Thompson is a republican.

Brett Favre retired again today.

Brett Favre retired again today.

And tomorrow the sun will rise in the east.

You expect the opposite side blogosphere to NOT react to this as the dem/lib side did to Joe the Plumber? Bad doggies, BAD!
