Simply The Best

The last new rule sent me to the ER for O2.

Hands down, the best commentary on the current state of the Republican Party I have ever seen. And I just said that with Matt Taibbi's piece two days ago in Rolling Stone.

You know something M, you're beginning to sound a lot like Gingrich and his bold talk about a permanent majority.

Flog, flog away at the rotting corpse of the Republican Party - and spend no time at all examining what is happening with the CURRENT administration.

The Obama administration is asking the Supreme Court to overrule long-standing law that stops police from initiating questions unless a defendant's lawyer is present, another stark example of the White House seeking to limit rather than expand rights.

The administration's action _ and several others _ have disappointed civil rights and civil liberties groups that expected President Barack Obama to reverse the policies of his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, after the Democrat's call for change during the 2008 campaign.

Since taking office, Obama has drawn criticism for backing the continued imprisonment of enemy combatants in Afghanistan without trial, invoking the "state secrets" privilege to avoid releasing information in lawsuits and limiting the rights of prisoners to test genetic evidence used to convict them.
Yeah GO TEAM BLUE!!!

Actually, I have a lot of respect for Newt Gingrich. He is one of the few voices on the right I respect. He's completely wrong about many things but he did predict that Karl Rove's strategy to be as divisive as possible will be the ruin of the Republican Party. He was right.

Maher's right. What does the right stand for? They can't stand someone who uses a teleprompter?

As to the rest of your comments, I'm certain that is more to the story than what you are saying. I'll look into it.

Setting aside whether or not so-and-so you have been quoting recently is "right" or not (which I doubt any of you can do since you’ll no doubt fire back with a "But Bush..." statement), I have a question.

You told us in May of 07 under The Torch is finally passed...
"That is what the torch truly is...it is the hope that we can all work together and be stronger as a team, learning from each other's differences. This is a very hard thing to do in this day and age when the people that are running our country....the people that stand to lose the most from an Obama presidency....continue to propagate the politics of divisiveness. We have been divided and conquered. It is time to put someone in the White House who is going to truly unite us and make us stronger."

Mark, do you consider anything you've wrote up on this blog since the inauguration an example of "bringing the country together"? It’s been nothing but insults and juvenile name-calling. At this point I can safely conclude that you are not at all interested in this country coming together. You can re-hash the last 8 years all you want but don’t try to tell me anymore that you want to end the politics of divisiveness because your actions on here have done nothing but continue the politics of divisiveness. I’ve noticed that those entries about the country coming together are long gone, and have been replaced with something else entirely. Save your predictable comebacks about the last 8 years that you have already said 6843 times already. Is there really nothing else going on in the world besides the latest insult toward Palin?

If wisdom means knowing which road to take, integrity means actually going down that road.

Mark Ward said...

Actually, last, I think you reached that conclusion long before this moment. I think you more or less wanted things to end up this way and, as most conservatives do with their complete suffrage from confirmation bias, seek only information out which supports their beliefs. I also think you are still having a difficult admitting how truly abominable the right is so you re-direct back to...me? Strange...

I wouldn't exactly call...

http://markadelphia.blogspot.com/2009/04/worth-thousand-words.html

nothing but insults and name calling. But take a look at the comment right after it..that sure as heck is!

I would also point to these posts..

http://markadelphia.blogspot.com/2009/03/here-they-are.html

...in particular the one about the railroad company is a nice story about coming together.

And those are just from the last couple of weeks. I think truth girl pointed out some posts from January in which I offered simple commentary with no insults.

So, while I do think that you have moderated yourself over the years in very good way and have offered what I consider to be highly intelligent, valid and thoughtful criticisms and insight on President Obama, the party you support does not. When was the last time a Democratic governor threatened to secede from the Union? As it has been in the past, you fail to see how widespread, strong and numerous the problem in your party is..becoming more and more rabid and insane as time goes on. I have to say you might be right in that teasing them might not be such a good idea.

Make no mistake about it, though, the problem of divisiveness begins and ends with the right.

I take the high road all the time (and still will) with debates with conservative friends and am rewarded with accusations of being weak, a commie, a fag, and a touchy feelie moron. So, I burn off some steam here on occasion--not ALL the time as your fictional vision pre-supposes--and make no apologies for it.

I have been working on a 100 days thing for the past few weeks--had planned on it for awhile--so let me know what you think of that. Directly following will be a bunch of Pakistan stuff which has been brewing in me for awhile.

as most conservatives do with their complete suffrage from confirmation biasThe most remarkable thing about your belief about this is that you think it applies only to conservatives and not to yourself.

If it weren't for vanity I'd readily believe that your home, like that of a vampire, is devoid of mirrors.

And what the hell is going on with haloscan and html tags? That wasn't how it looked in preview!

I'm not redirecting. I asked you a question. I notice you didn't answer it - you went on to talk about "most conservatives", "the party you support", "your party" "the right". We already know what you think of them. Now you've told us 6844 times.

For every one of your examples, I'll post 2 of my examples. You listed 6, I'll list 12.

1. worm-infested feral bitch who spent the past eight years biting children at bus stops and shitting

2. (from one of your examples of bringing the country together) The hyperbole and hysteria of certain right wing people is just getting to be too much

3. since they got their asses handed to them in the last election. They started off as their usual peptic selves and have since boiled over into a hilarious combination of insanity and paranoia spewing forth heretofore unfathomable lies and deceit. What has caused them to get this way?

4. But I also want a strong defense, smooth roads, and someone to take care of me when I am shitting my pants at age 80. Ah, the hyperbole.

5. Ok...um...fucksticks? Please do a little research.

6. Setting aside the obvious and highly humorous fact at how many right wingers these days act and sound like Al Qaeda

7. This happens all the time in koolaidville. The frenzy and anger that has been whipped up by the right is absolutely unparalleled at this particular point in time. They are out of their minds with the fact that President Obama might actually succeed at what he is doing. their lives will be over. They simply can't deal with this.

8. one must seriously wonder what the fuck goes on inside the heads of people that think this way.

9. It's a nice little fantasy that the right, in typical fashion, has manufactured against the left in the pitiful attempt

10. And righties? Please try to bring your "it's all the government's regulations" horse shit to the table now.

11. the only purpose it serves is to further the right wing's bizarre "violence makes my dick hard" fetish.

12. First of all, let's put to rest the right wing bullshit myth that President Obama only speaks well with a teleprompter.

....and I only went back to March 20 to double your list. Those examples aren't a fictional vision - those are your words.

"Make no mistake about it, though, the problem of divisiveness begins and ends with the right."

Ahhhhhh now I get it. When the right is in power, it all goes back to them because they are in power. When they are out of power (as in right now), why then it all goes back to them too as well. Funny how that works in your mind...and you accuse "the right" of not taking responsibility.

I'll ask you again - are the 12 examples I posted your way of attempting to bring the country together?

juris imprudent said...

last,

You do of course realize that M (and most of the rest of the hysterical left) only believes in bringing the country together in the same way that a fire-breathing Baptist preacher wants to bring sinners to God. He simply lacks the preacher's candor and tact in his holy mission.

Mark Ward said...

Actually, I did answer it by giving you the railroad example.

Ok, so we went from "It’s been nothing but insults and juvenile name-calling" to "For every one of your examples, I'll post 2 of my examples. You listed 6, I'll list 12." So now it has NOT been nothing but insults just insults 2 and coming together/positive stories 1. And my Oscar picks? Were those nothing but insults and juvenile name calling?

Let's take your points one by one.

1. That defines exactly the GOP in the last eight years. Deal with it. I have to admit that I was wrong about something regarding the coming together of the country: your side doesn't want to. The things I say about them are simply repeating what they say. I have to admit I had hoped that when they got pasted in 06 and 08, that they would admit they were wrong which I know now is an absolute impossibility given their derangement.

2.Yes, and...? How is that an insult?

3. Also true...still don't see your point. Show me how what they are saying is not like this.

4. Again, true. They bemoan government but bitch when it isn't helping them.

5. Yes, that was personal. Oh no! Gasp! I guess I must be just like them. Again, you made up your mind already and, as Paul Simon says, a man sees what he wants to see and disregards the rest.

6. Also, a fact. Not an insult or juevenille. Would you like me to produce a long list of similarities?

7. All too true. I know if Obama succeeds this won't be a problem for you but the majority of your party? Just wait and see what happens.

8. I do wonder. I'm all ears if you have any ideas.

9. Don't know the context on this one.

10. Ditto...probably something to do with the economy.

11. Again, true. Violence and always having to have an enemy are the name of the game for the right now. Show me how I am wrong.

12. Well, it is. And you fell for it!

Yes, the major problems we have in this country do begin and end with the right. The decisions they made when they were leading are affecting us right now. I still have yet to hear anyone stand up and say (on the right) "We screwed up. We're sorry." It's never going to happen and I think that is a fucking tragedy.

I was terribly naive to think that they would do this but they haven't. So until that time comes, you're going to here my talking about it. This certainly does not mean that President Obama or myself are above criticism. Take a look at the 100 days post I put up today. There are plenty of lumps dealt out although nowhere near as many as I do to the right. Why?

Because they are incompetent, last. I know it's a tough nut to crack but until any sort admission (from the party who hilariously bemoans the victim card) that they caused most of this, there can be no coming together.

Last in line said...

So a company making millions of dollars from the federal government is an example of the country coming together? Hell if one were to read your blog over the past several years, I could quite easily conclude that the reason for this new railroad is to line the pockets of corporations in this country!!! That used to be bad, up until a couple months ago. Now it's good. Got it, thanks for the update.

I have fond memories of me saying "Setting aside whether or not so-and-so you have been quoting recently is "right" or not...."

I see you can't set it aside.

I also see your statements about "the country coming together, being stronger as a team, working together, learning from each others differences, putting somebody in the white house who will truly unite us and make us stronger" apparantly now have an expiration date.

You expect admissions from others when you haven't admitted anything with regards to your statements about health care in Canada or Massachusetts on this blog?

Oh I'll put a little response up to the 100 days post but since calling people fucksticks and then saying "well its true" apparantly passes as discussion or "fact", I won't expect a detailed explanation on some of the things I will mention (posting a link is not an explanation). I apparantly have to answer for everything that happens on one entire side of the aisle and I'm going to be asking questions to somebody who hasn't formed an opinion on the 2 largest bills to ever be passed out of congress in the history of our nation.

I think you have formed an opinion. I think the rest of you lefties on here have formed an opinion as well. I think some people have lost all moral authority when it comes to preaching about deficit spending. You can talk about the right all you want. I'm noticing what you aren't talking about.

When exactly will it become Obamas economy?

paul said...

Alright I need to jump in here. Last, you are completely full of shit. The story of the railroad company was an example of how dunderheaded conservatives have now finally admitted that President Obama is not a socialist. Nor is he a terrorist. That's called coming together. Anything that Mark has said on here pales in comparison to what the right says EVERY DAY.

Please stop trying to paint Mark like he is just like the people on your side of the aisle. He is nowhere close to their out and out dishonesty. Hell, you aren't even like them anymore so I don't see why you are complaining. They are sick in the head and there are still plenty of people that support them. As long as that is the case, I hope Mark continues to call them on it.

dick nixon said...

"I think some people have lost all moral authority when it comes to preaching about deficit spending."

Yeah, they're called Republicans!

Oh, and it already is Obama's economy, dumb ass. He has said so himself. Mark has already stated several times how pleased he is that President Obama takes responsibility for his actions. Where were you?

juris imprudent said...

Please stop trying to paint Mark like he is just like the people on your side of the aisle.Oh, he does that all by himself. Mirror image of what he says (almost every day) he hates so much. And that isn't my side of the aisle - though I have to note just how quick you all are to put it in "us vs. them" tones. Damn, just like those nasty right-wingers AGAIN!

Mark has already stated several times how pleased he is that President Obama takes responsibility for his actions. You mean like having Air Force One fly over Manhattan? I haven't seen a head roll yet for what was an incredibly stupid photo op. But I'm a patient guy.

And Dick I will fully agree that Repubs have no claim to standing for fiscal responsibility. Neither do the Dems. Got any ideas on a political party that does?

Last in line said...

You are completely full of shit

dumb ass

sick in the head

Nice arguments. Feel free to call me some more names after I put up my response to the 100 days post, it will validate everything you say.

I don't need to try and paint Mark, I just copied and pasted his own words. The story about the railroad company can be told best by another poster here but I'm pretty sure it's about being awarded a government contract.

Dick, you see the CBO's deficit chart?

If it's Obamas economy then how come the problems in our country begin and end with the right? You two had better get your story straight.

juris imprudent said...

Hey M, I see that Rep. Bachmann has made another bonehead statement on the House floor. Between her and Franken, you are going to have a stupid-fest of epic proportions. Minnesota will make even California and Florida jealous of your political stupidity!

Mark Ward said...

It's going to be a long time before Franken is Senator. Coleman's masters are telling him to eat shit for a long time because they don't want President Obama to have 60 (soon to be at least 62 in 2010). It won't be until at least June and probably longer than that.

Was the Bachammn comment you are referring to the one about swine flu and Jimmy Carter?

juris imprudent said...

No, Bachmann was talking about FDR and the Hoot-Smalley tariffs. Wrong on who was Prez and that it was Smoot-Hawley was the Act.

It was a double shot of stupid!
