Bachmann Part Deux

I can't see why any rational person would vote for someone like Michelle Bachmann. What color is the sky in her world?

Mark, did you read the article in the Star Tribune Op-Ed section yesterday by the Rev. Greg Boyd (who you posted about awhile back)? I think you might appreciate what he said. He touches on this issue...

And right- the most scary thing this "Stepford Wife" said at that church was that she didn't want to do tax law but her husband said she had to, so, what the hey, she has to obey her husband!!

If that's what she really thinks, does that mean if she is elected, her husband will actually be the one in charge of her votes and bills? After all, she can't disagree with him, can she?

This reminds me of the Clinton thing in reverse- how many people were concerned that actually Hillary was behind Bill and she was an "unelected" member of the White House...

But Michelle Bachmann has a law degree- she's educated and must not be stupid. Goes to show that intelligence and education does not automatically equate with independence of thought or critical thinking.

I did see the column written by Greg Boyd and it was wonderful. He is a very good, decent person...a truly great thinker of our time and a man whose deep faith in Christ is genuine....as opposed to Michele Bachmann who is, as Thomas Jefferson put it, a "psuedo Christian."

It is my sincere hope that evangelicals start to think more like Greg Boyd and less like Michelle Bachmann. If that happens, I think we, as a country, can really come together on so many issues.

When women were were fighting for the right to vote, many made the argument that they should not be enfranchised because it would violate the "one man-one vote" guarantee in the constitution. Married men would get two votes because they would tell their wives how to vote.

If Bachmann's husband is the one who controls everything she does, why isn't he running? If her convictions about wifely submission are genuine, why isn't she staying home and taking care of the kids? They have five; are some of them still in school?

The only thing we know about the man who controls Bachmann is that her website biography says he was a dairy farmer at one time; it doesn't say what he does now.

It seems that Bachmann is just another politician exploiting the beliefs of conservative Christians -- much like Jack Abramoff used Ralph Reed's Christian Coalition members to help one Indian tribe prevent another Indian tribe from opening a casino.
