Wrapped Neatly With A Bow

As I flipped through the news channels yesterday morning, I saw something that brought a smile to my face. And it has lasted for the last 24 hours.

Fox News was discussing Hillary Clinton's call for a Lincoln-Douglas style debate with Barack Obama. Take a look at the video and the picture they put up as they were discussing this topic in the above clip.

What a bunch of fucking morons!

The photo they put up is of Frederick Douglas, famed 19th century abolitionist, and not Stephen Douglas, Lincoln's debate opponent in 1958. Why on earth would Lincoln debate someone who was on his side?!!?

I can just see how the knuckle dragging minds at Faux News connected the dots on this one: Lincoln...black people....Douglas ...Frederick Douglas...black...find photo...fire bad...water good...

For those of you on the right who want to be taken seriously and treated as scholars, you are going to have to start by ceasing to defend Fox Noise as reliable news source.

The real question is...did any of their viewers notice?

Not a peep from those who criticize the liberal media for not being factual?

Sorry Elizbeth, you and Markadelphia are mistakenly under the assumption that everyone wants to be treated as a scholar. I could care less how any of you treat me or anyone else for that matter and that picture on the tv of the wrong guy just seems like a simple mistake. the new york times has a corrections section also, big frickin deal.

I'd like to see an example of a New York Times as moronic as this one. It also speaks to the conservative view of history which is fucking delusional.

...guess if you're a conservative, there is no room for errors or mistakes. 100% all the time is a pretty high standard.

NYT...hmmm, Jason Blaire and others come to mind. ...but the difference there, I suppose, is willfully lying versus making a mistake.

...kiss your mom w/ that mouth?

Yeah and the dan rather Fake But Accurate documents on cbs. I guess to be taken seriously as a scholar we should put forth the fact that aids was invented by teh us government as a way to kill blacks. maybe thats what we should be listening to huh?

Anonymous said...

I thought God created aids as a punishment for homos?

Oh, PL, stop trying to win my heart. That was a good one. Paging Pastor Hagee!

Does anyone out there actually take Fox News seriously any more? BTW, they have more coverage of shark attacks today.

Fox News cannot be taken seriously as a news outlet. Its president is Roger Ailes, the same Roger Ailes behind the Willie Horton ad in the 1988 election.

Fox is the propaganda arm of the right wing establishment, plain and simple. Their brand of political pornography panders to the Republicans so that Murdoch can snatch up more media outlets to solidify his monopoly position. He uses that political clout with the FCC to escape the harsh punishments other networks receive when they have breaches of "broadcast ethics."

Fox news is conservative. You can see it in the "grapevine" they have at 5:30 every day, the fact that O'Reilly is pretty conservative on lots of issues and the fact that Alan Colmes looks like an alien and is routinely bullied by Hannity on every show.

Now I have a question for everyone above...is there any media that is liberal and if so, name some names please.

Air America is liberal. I would say that Ed Schultz is liberal...and very wrong btw when he says that John McCain is a war monger.

I used to think Keith Olberman was liberal but then the 24-7 airings of Reverend Wright et al took over and now I think he just wants the ratings.

Web sites? Moveon.org, Daily Kos are liberal.

I would add in the Huffington Post and agree with Mark's list.

So I just want to get this all on record since I said what I think about Fox. Are CNN, PBS and Bill Moyers, CBS evening news, NBC evening news, ABC evening news, major newspapers like the NYT, Star Tribune, Atlanta Journal and Constitution, along with MSNBC and Chris Matthews who said that his leg tingles when Obama speaks....do they all present the news right down the middle? Straight shooters all of them?

Mark Ward said...

I can't speak for the Atlanta Journal and Constitution (not familiar at all) but the rest of them, yes, are straight shooters.

Crab, you are letting your own bias get in the way of reality. All of those networks were wall to wall Reverend Wright. Brian Williams (NBC) is considered by many conservatives (Laura Ingraham, Medved, Praeger) to be very honest.
So what if Matthews likes Obama? He hates the Clintons. What does that mean?

For every complaint you show me about the liberal media, I can show you the same number of complaints from liberals discussing how the media are lapdogs of the Bush administration. Example?

Read what she says and tell me if you think her point is valid. The media goes for what sells, Crab. They aren't liberal. I know it's going to take years of reprogramming to convince you of this but a good start would be to look at it from the other angle. Start listening to what liberals have to say about the media. You might be surprised at what you experience.

The media you mention are liberal? Hilarious.

They were the ones that sold the Iraq War to us. Last, did you even read Mark's post about the military experts and the link to the documents?

I never said all of those outlets were liberal sara. I just wanted someone to go on record saying all those are all straight shooters and that major newspaper editorial boards have no slant whatsoever when writing about subjects. I didn't register any complaints if you look at my post and I really don't care who is right or wrong among us...I was just seeking clarity and I now have it.
