Claude Castonguay is the father of socialized medicine in Canada. In the 1960s, he chaired a Quebec commission whose recommendation of a government-run health care system for that province was adopted, and quickly spread to the rest of the country. Now, after forty years of experience with socialized medicine, Castonguay has changed his mind:

Four decades later, as the chairman of a government committee reviewing Quebec health care this year, Castonguay concluded that the system is in "crisis." "We thought we could resolve the system's problems by rationing services or injecting massive amounts of new money into it," says Castonguay. But now he prescribes a radical overhaul: "We are proposing to give a greater role to the private sector so that people can exercise freedom of choice."

Castonguay advocates contracting out services to the private sector, going so far as suggesting that public hospitals rent space during off-hours to entrepreneurial doctors. He supports co-pays for patients who want to see physicians. Castonguay, the man who championed public health insurance in Canada, now urges for the legalization of private health insurance."

But don't take my word on it...listen to the father of the program.

There were just talking about him yesterday on right wing radio. Must have been the right wing talking point of the day as all the little minions have gone forth and spread the "word."

Any original thoughts of your own on that piece or are you just going to brush it all off because some radio host mentioned it?

Mark posts articles that he says proves what he says....and plenty of lefties ding conservatives for ignoring facts, acting on "beliefs" and dismissing things because they appear in the New York times.

Are there some ostriches on the left on this blog?

Gee, I've read some of the things in that article before....can't for the life of me remember where!! haha. heeheeheeheehee

Yeah Dave, just go back to the Presidential profile of Mitt Romney in May of 07 on this blog and you will see Mark saying..

"Crab left because he got bitch slapped up and down the joint with the facts of Canadian health care which completely contradicted his non reasoned fervor regarding universal health care. It's odd, I took a lot of what he and other folks have said about "health care for all" as being factual but it's really just paranoia when you dig into it. I also forgot about the year I spent in France and my experience with their health care system which was very positive."

I guess the father of the entire fucking program is now part of that evil right-wing paranoia cabal that is out to scare people.

Then in March of 07 in the comment section of "Support the troops..er", truthgirl told me this...

"Please do some research on potential universal health care models, look at Mass's uhc and how it worked, and realize that you have no idea what our universal health care is going to look like. Would you stop listening to conservative pundits and their complete fabrication of reality?
Do some research on how "public" health care in Canada works."

aaahaaahaaahaahaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!! That 5 minutes of research really paid off didn't it????? Oh I have to stop, my side is hurting.....AAHAAHAHAHAAAA!!!

In addition to the crickets, I'm going to sit back and listen to the sounds of them "not" changing their minds when presented with facts that contradict their worldview as well as the sounds of them "not" admitting they were wrong, something they accuse conservatives of every day. Are they as open minded as they say they are? Are they projecting their own faults onto others? There is always a difference between what people say they do and what they actually do.

Now, standard operating procedure is to...
1. insult me
2. change the subject
3. accuse me of the exact same thing

QUICK!!!! Choose one!!!
