Only A Matter of Time

Remember all that talk like....oh....since forever on this blog about how most conservatives aren't shit kicking rednecks?

And about how yours truly is filled with bias and hate?

Oh, and how liberals are the ones that are fascist?

Take a look at these three fucks.
From left to right they are: Nathan Johnson (aka Cletus the Slack Jawed Yokel), Shawn Adolph (!), and Tharin Gartrell. These three men, along with Johnson's girlfriend, were arrested today in a plot to assassinate Barack Obama on Thursday night in Denver when he gives his acceptance speech. They were found with scopes, high powered rifles, bullet proof vests, and Nazi literature. Adolph (no surprise here) jumped out of his hotel window to try to elude police. Apparently, there was some meth involved as well.

Take a look at these three faces. My first thought went to some of the anger and violent bile I read on various right wing blogs. Here are three of their regular commenters, I'm sure....unless each of them has their own blog discussing how Obama is going to destroy this country with socialism. Or was it fascism? I can never remember what idiocy is the moronic theory du jour.

Now, I know that some of you will say that these guys are just nuts and the left has their nuts too. Well, a conservative friend of mine at the gym..one who I used to have a lot of respect for....a respected doctor in Edina....came up to me today and asked me if I had heard about this plot. When I answered in the affirmative, he looked at me and said, very seriously,

"It's too bad they got caught. They could have saved our country."

The right tries to play up that the left has "radicals" today. The William Ayers thing is laughable. The real sickos are on the right and there is a large enough quantity of them to safely say that it isn't just a fringe element. This is how these people think.

The radical right has been largely placated because most of them think George Bush is alright. He's a dumb ass hick like them so their thought process, if you can call it that, is to leave well enough alone.

Now that there is a possibility of a left leaning president and he's black? It's time to find the rope. I fear that this is only the first in a series of incidents like this, Mark. Your friend at the gym is more common than even you dare to think. Given the fact that many people on the right like to shoot first and ask questions later, it seems unintelligent of you, maybe naive, that you seemed shocked.

Yes, Mark. Why are you so shocked? This is their modus operandi: feign innocence and quietly support this sort of behavior.

My roommate has overheard conversations at his workplace that an Obama administration will be "scary."

I have to think, is that FDR scary, or LBJ scary? Is that Martin Luther King scary or Malcom X scary? Is that Jesse Jackson scary, or Don King scary? Mike Tyson scary or Michael Jackson scary?

It's pretty obvious by now that those of us Americans with both hearts and brains have settled somewhere to the left and those with neither gravitate to the other side.

Doubtless these morons are racists. It only goes to further prove something I have been saying for years. No advocate of racial superiority of any race has ever been a good example of that race. Nor will they ever be.

Tom,

One of the biggest criticisms of me is that over generalize when it comes to conservatism. For the most part, I still think that is true. When stuff like this happens, though, I tend to that I am at least a little right. I don't think that's being unintelligent...just trying to be understanding and hear another's point of view. When that point of view involves joy at the death of someone, then that's a grave problem.

Dan,

Excellent points. I know people in my office as well who think Obama is scary. I don't get it. It's the ultimate in ignorance.

Elizabeth,

Thank you. I think it's obvious that fear is a large component in the philosophy of the right; fear of change, fear of losing their wealth, fear of losing power, fear of being wrong... it could very well be the driving force behind their continual attacks on anyone who may possibly be perceived to disagree with their myopic view of life.

On another note, isn't it interesting that sw and juris have not posted on this thread? I would think they would jump all over this one. Perhaps they realize that these morons in Colorado are indefensible?

Well dan, from some of the comments I have read in the past on here, the wealthy ones on this blog are the liberals who post here. The only thing I would jump all over is the fact that, while the 4 people involved are total idiots who should go away to prison just for being that stupid, no charges have been brought against them as far as a big grand plot goes but markadelphia isn't interested in telling any of you that fact. I find other blogs far more interesting anyway, you know, other blogs who get over 100 or so comments and actually have a discussion going on as opposed to 4 people saying the same thing (like this thread). When you start threads with idiotic generalizations that only sell to the hacks, expect to get only hacks posting on here. It's been some time since a decent discussion has taken place on here on a big topic.
