America...Fuck Yeah!

For the past couple of days, President Obama has been chastised by both members of his own party as well as the GOP in regards to the closing of Gitmo. They refused him the funding to close the prison by his Jan 2010 deadline. With the GOP leading the charge and the Democrats doing their usual cowering in the face of right wing fear, paranoia, and ignorance (if they come on our soil, US officials will immediately issue them weapons and explosive material and tell them to go blow something up), all hope appeared lost.

Then a small town in a bright red state said they would take at least half of them if not more. And I can't wait for the conservative response (see: spin) on this one.

Two Rivers Executive Director Greg Smith said the town of Hardin, Montana would gladly take them. Why? Because their town has been hit by hard times and they sure could use the jobs. Apparently, they have an empty, state-of-the-art jail ready and waiting. Interestingly, they don't seem to be all that afraid of having hirabis in their town. Mr Smith said that the people there would be more concerned about child molesters than a few terrorists. Hee hee hee...I think I just heard a collective load drop in the pants of another GOP bullshit lie. And doesn't Harry Reid look like a total douche right about now?

Say it ain't so, Virginia. Can it be that there are still heroes left in this country that don't cower in fear in the face of a few bad guys? Are there actually people in a bright red state that can look past party lines and do what is best for American and her image?

Are the only real men living in Montana?:)

1. What was the original bullshit lie?

2. What is YOUR position on your side blocking the funding? GOP "leading" something - what a joke, they aren't in power. As much as you'd like to blame this on someone else, sorry - this is on "your side". You seem to be a big fan of saying things like "The adults are now in charge" and "Finally, someone who takes responsibility" while at the same time not being able to stop saying "They did it first".

3. Where do YOU think those folks held at GITMO should go? You're on here asking for a response from the "other side" when you haven't even said what you think of it. If you don't provide your readers with your version of the truth then how the hell is anyone going to know what the spin is?

As usual, you left some important tidbits out. Your Chairman of the your Senate Appropriations Committee, Daniel Inouye, refused to appropriate a penny on this until he has a plan. Your buddy Jim Webb, the sort-of de facto spokesman on defense issues for Democrats, came out against closing gitmo last weekend. The AP headline the other day said "Senate votes to block Obama from transferring Guantanamo prisoners to US". Doesn’t your side hold a veto proof majority in the senate? Led by the gop? What a crock. Obama promised in the campaign to close gitmo and your side can’t even get it done with a veto-proof majority? Why don't you tell us what the vote numbers in the senate were? Way to give half the story.

Sarahs characterization is looking so true. Now, you can all come back and insult me or talk about GWB some more. Go for it...

Last, I just started posting here but are you dense?

He stated that he didn't agree with the blocking of funding and made fun of all of the people who did it including Harry Reid-a Democrat.

He went on to say that Montana is stepping up and wants to take at least half of the Gitmo prisoners. I took that to mean that Mark supports this...is that true Mark? So that would an an answer to where he would send them.

As far the original bullshit lie, I believe it was this...

"if they come on our soil, US officials will immediately issue them weapons and explosive material and tell them to go blow something up"

which I have heard several times from the likes of Rush and Hannity. Correct me, please, if I am wrong Mark.

Sounds to me like someone is a pretty sore loser.

Mark, I don't have your email. Drop me a line on facebook. A mutual friend of ours needs some help with her depression. I think you know who I mean.

What's with all the questions you have for Mark? If it was so obvious then you shouldn't have to ask any questions right? Walked right into that one didn't you? "I believe..."???? I know I start sentences that way when something is obvious to me!! So you heard it several times from the likes of Rush and Hannity, then you had to ask Mark if you were wrong? If you heard it yourself several times, why do you have to ask if you were wrong? Keep posting here, please. You type simple one liners as well. Welcome home!!

No sir - reread his post. All he said was that Obama was chastised, that he was refused funding by the senate, and that a small town in Montana said they would take them.

That's all he said. He didn't offer up his position or how he came to that position. He also left a few things out, which you can no doubt see.

Asking a few questions does not make one a sore loser. Avoidance of answering a few questions about the policies "your side" supports makes the smell in air here chickenshit. You have no idea who I am - I'm a secure person who is wise enough to not emotionally attach myself to a politician or a political party.

Last, "all" the questions? Other than the one asking if you were dense, I counted one which was simply a polite one so as not speak for our host.

His post was pretty clear to me. And right on the mark (pun intended)

More one-liners...sweet!!

and I'm pointing out who blocked the funding...it was the folks you all voted for. You folks have a veto-proof majority now that Spector switched parties.

"I took that to mean..."
"Is that true Mark"
"I believe it was this..."
"Correct me, please, if I am wrong".
"Sounds to me like..."

Yeah, it all sounds pretty clear and factual to me too!!!

Hate to be the one to break it to you johnny, but "if they come on our soil, US officials will immediately issue them weapons and explosive material and tell them to go blow something up" was made up, even though some will claim it was paraphrased from a bunch of other things from everyone on "the other side".

"and I'm pointing out who blocked the funding...it was the folks you all voted for. You folks have a veto-proof majority now that Spector switched parties."

This is untrue. The Democrats still do not have a veto-proof majority. Norm Coleman is still blocking Franken being seated, in a direct contradiction to everything the Republicans said in 2000 when Bush "beat" Gore in Florida.

Coleman now states that anyone who cast an absentee ballot should have the ballot be counted no matter that the registration for that ballot is incorrect. This from the same party that insists you have photo ID to cast your vote in person to combat "fraud."

The main reason Republicans are so certain that Democrats are committing voter fraud is that Republicans do it a lot. They use four basic tactics:

* Prosecutorial fraud. This was what Gonzales' firing of the US Attorneys was all about. The guys who wouldn't harass Democratic voter organizations got canned.

* Secretary of State fraud. This happened in Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004. It's usually a combination of "scrubbing" the voter rolls (of black, hispanics and Democrats), and "selective incompetence" on election day, where targeted areas are denied enough voting machines for everyone to vote, or the police harass black voters.

* Voting in two separate jurisdictions (often Florida and their "home" state). This is Ann Coulter's favorite method.

* Absentee ballot fraud. This is the favorite method of Republicans with elderly relatives. Once favored by Democrats in Chicago, Republicans have taken to this wholesale. See, your geezerly grampa is "grandfathered" in to vote forever. All you need to do is request a ballot in the mail, sign his name, and when you get the ballot, check the guys you want in and sign your grampa's name again. It works great!

These are the votes that Norm wants counted in the Minnesota Senate race. Only he wants to count the ones that some idiots screwed up (they signed the wrong name, forgot to sign, etc.).

The Minnesota Legislature passed a law to prevent crap like this, but the Republican governor vetoed it because it didn't require photo ID at the polls (where almost zero fraud takes place because you have to show up in person and lie to someone's face).

Then tell us what the final vote was. Either way, "your side" is "in charge". I thought Spector made 60. Who the hell said anything about voter fraud with regards to the bill blocking funds to close gitmo?
