Corporate Force A Go Go

BLK sent me this piece recently. The basic gist of it is that corporations are now using their tool (literal and figurative) known as the government to jail people for not paying debts. Many of these debts aren't really debts at all. Some were paid off long ago and then re-surfaced as still being owed because...well...private corporations are douche bags and want to fuck people over...draining every last cent out of them that they can.

"The law enforcement system has unwittingly become a tool of the debt collectors," said Michael Kinkley, an attorney in Spokane, Wash., who has represented arrested debtors. "The debt collectors are abusing the system and intimidating people, and law enforcement is going along with it."

Yeah, but it still must be all about government power, right Cult members? Even though, debtors prisons were abolished a long time ago, our plutonomy has resurrected them again in keeping with their aristocratic fantasies.

Here is the follow up which essentially illustrates the shriveled penis also known as our government attempting to do something about it.

It is intellectually dishonest to characterize this they way you have.

These people were jailed for ignoring warrants and summons and refusing to follow court orders. Not for being a deadbeat.

It doesn't matter what the offense is, judges get a bit testy when you thumb your nose at them.

Non-payment of debt is theft.

But of course this is a lie, because it's said by rabid right-winger Mort Zuckerman.

WHO is the one who can USE force - the corporation itself? Or does the govt use force for the benefit of the corporation?

Why, WHY is that so fucking hard for you?

The only thing I can figure is that this is a religious belief for you - because it defies all other explanation.

From the link that blk sent you:

A year ago, Legal Aid attorneys proposed a change in state law that would have required law enforcement officials to let debtors fill out financial disclosure forms when they are apprehended rather than book them into jail. No legislator introduced the measure.

So, M, have you called or written YOUR state legislator about this?

Why aren't you demanding change from your state GOVERNMENT? Is it because you cower in fear of biting the hand that feeds you?

I blame YOU and all the rest of citizens of your state for the flaw in STATE law that allows this. As for the greedy bastards that have perfected this technique - you did read that LAWYERS (major sponsor of the Democratic Party) are the culprits.

Oh, and it helps if you aren't a deadbeat.
