Worth 1000 Words

Take a look at this picture taken by Stephen Crowley of the New York Times. In the foreground is President Bush giving a speech yesterday at the White House. The figure to the left is Vice President Cheney.

Aside from the obvious hunting jokes ("Look Out! He has a gun!" or "Oh great, another shooter on the the grassy knoll..."), doesn't this image sum up the entire Bush presidency?

Bush, the figurehead, with Cheney hiding in the bushes, the one really pulling the strings?

Priceless.

Priceless? I think frightening is more the word for it....or stunningly acurate if you could pick two words.

Puppet and puppeteer? How titilating! I wonder how many people will request Dick Cheney and/or George Bush on the lecture circuit after their reign is over? Maybe a "tell-all why we really did what we did" sort of book ala O.J. Simpson would sell well after the fact. I think both men sleep well at night knowing that there is little chance that they will end up like Mussolini and his girlfriend did at the conclusion of WWII. And that is really the beauty of their position. No repurcussions in their lifetime, no direct responsibility, they walk away scott-free. What was that about the price of freedom and democracy? Here I have to put up with legalized previously illegal search and seizure, fund a war that I want nothing to do with, here's the big question...what does George Bush have to put up with? What will he ultimately have to put up with that he didn't earn in his tenure? What a travesty.

John,

That's crazy talk! You are a lunatic and an idiot! (Mark's face turns red, eyes begin to bead, face glosses over in Waco cult like fervor) We are in Iraq to protect ourselves and keep us free! We are fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here. To say that George Bush and Dick Cheney are finanical profiting from this war....(Mark puts fingers in ears and begins shout) "I'm not listening to you!! I'm not listening to you!!I'm not listening to you!!I'm not listening to you!!I'm not listening to you!!I'm not listening to you!!"

Wow. Perfect Depiction.

You forgot to throw in the part about how liberals are the ones that are close minded. Y'know, the "I know you are but what am I?" 3rd grade argument so heavily rooted in reality and logic.
