Well, that worked out well.

Take a look at this article from today's New York Times.

Are you fucking kidding me!?!?

A while back, I compared the conservative base of this country to Al Qaeda and one of the examples I used was their common views on homosexuality. I was taken to the mat because, apparently, we're nicer to our gays here. Sure, we don't kill them or beat the crap out of them like they do in many Middle Eastern and African countries. We just treat them like second class citizens, curb their civil rights, and treat them like lepers. So, I guess they should go kiss some evangelical ass and be thankful that they aren't being lynched.

But that really isn't true any more after this now is it? What the hell were these idiots thinking? They go in to a country that already has serious issues with homosexuality, talk about its "dark" agenda, and then have the audacity to be all "I'm shocked, I tell you, SHOCKED, that there is going to be gays killed as a result of our visit." What a collection of assholes.

Mr. Lively, Mr. Brundidge, Mr. Schmierer...can't the three of you just stay in our country and treat our fags like shit? I know it really sucks that you can't beat them or hang them here but, sadly, life is tough. Do you really have to go and be all international and shit about your bigotry, hatred, fear, and loathing?

Because if anyone dies as a result of your visit, as far as I'm concerned, all three of you will be international criminals (see: conspiracy to commit murder)...which means you will be just like Al Qaeda.

Really
like them.

What will the new year bring for Notes from the Front? Apparently nothing new. So is this the only thing that hit your radar recently?

Actually, you radiate sameness, rld. I think this is a great topic to bring up. Three Americans go to another country and, at the very least, encourage them to curtail freedom. At worst, encourage them to murder people for being themselves. Super, dudes!

You are so right sara, people should not be free to say such things, or to travel abroad if they don't have the right opinions. Obviously we must destroy the 1st Amdt in order to save this country, no, the whole world, from a few stupid people.

Of course I can't say I'm surprised that M went trolling the NYT for a little outrage.

"Nothing changes on New Year's Day..."

freedom is already curtailed over there sara. nice fail. markadelphia, you sure are an angry individual.

I'm wondering, rld juris and sw, what you would think of members of Al Qaeda came to the US and told Muslims here to pass a law saying it's fine to hang Christians. Would that be terrorism?

Hey folks, since it's a new year, I thought I would offer a gentle reminder that you can post under a name. Click the circle next to "Name/URL" and pick a name--any name--so we can keep track of who's who. That way we won't have so many anonymous folks.

juris_imprudent said...

Well Anon, I would be inclined to call it many things, but not terrorism.

rld said...

Anonymous, they are already here saying that and only in safe, deep blue places like NYC. Also, I wasn't aware that muslims could just pass laws here. I thought you had to be an elected official to pass laws. Duuuh.

How would Kevin Jennings do over there?

juris imprudent said...

Anon, who is Kevin Jennings, where is "there", and why would I care?

Anonymous said...

Juris, you don't know who Kevin Jennings is!? He founded GLSEN (gay, lesbian and straight education network), and he's our "safe school" czar. And apparently "safe school" means "pro-homosexuality".

This man coordinated workshops for youth (age 14-21) on fisting, gave kids "fisting kits" and in a GLSEN workshop, a activist asked “spit or swallow?… Is it rude?”

This story was never touched by the regular media because the details are so disgusting.

I have a lot of gay people in my life. They are disgusted by him.

Anon, I went and google'd him after my post, because in fact I had no idea who he was or what he was doing.

I have to admit that I love the irony in a Bush Admin created position being filled by a person that fills the right with dread. There will be more of this of course with the next change of administration, when righties sit in places of power created by leftists who will wail and keen at the sight.

Needless to say, the position is ridiculous and the person filling it couldn't be more ridiculous. That the left-GLBT faction will mount it's horse of high dudgeon to joust with the moral-midgetry of the right on it's mighty stead of self-righteousness should end up quite a show - particularly for something so utterly meaningless.

Ah, the power and glory of fear...anon, this statement

"This man coordinated workshops for youth (age 14-21) on fisting, gave kids "fisting kits" and in a GLSEN workshop, a activist asked “spit or swallow?… Is it rude?”

is yet another example of the tap into your inner rage meme. Where are your links? Please no Worldnet Daily, Human Events or similarly biased sites.

Show me exactly where he coordinated workshops in fisting and the corresponding literature. Do the research yourself and don't rely on your propaganda network to spoon feed you information.

And what passes for most of what you call thought in your own posts. I take that what truly galls you is that the right does this better than you?

You see how you yourself rise to the bait like an unwary trout - chasing after what this man may or may not have said. You don't bother to assimilate the full gestalt idiocy of the entire matter. You leap to the defense of your chosen side.

Juris, how exactly was mark tapping into his inner rage in his Best of 2009 post? Or his Iran series?

juris imprudent said...

sara, really - did I say EVERY post? And are you SERIOUSLY contending that M's rants (like say "Corporate Abuse" or this very one) are NOT fueled by his inner rage?

There is an old saying: don't ascribe to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Sara, Markadelphia, blk, kennedydem, dick nixon, jeff c - do you think I'm racist? We all want to know. Be honest now.

Mark Ward said...

As I have mentioned previously, everyone has racial bias. So the answer is yes.

The problem, however, is getting those on the right to admit that they are---or admit they are responsible for anything.

cspan said...

I remember when you said "it is clear to me that Joe Wilson is a fucking racist" for something he said that was not even in the same hemisphere as what Ried said. Now we hear that Bill Clinton said about Obama in 2008 "A few years ago he would have been getting us coffee". But since he has a D behind his name so lets try to tell people what the real problem is - the right wing!! You're too predictable.

How about those health care negotiations being televised on cspan? Most transparant administration ever? Tell me - why do you think they don't want us to hear what is going on in that room?

dick nixon said...

cspan, what part of "everyone has racial bias" didn't you get? Harry Reid is a racist. Joe Wilson is a racist. I am a racist. So are you. Fucking admit it, try to get over your bias and move on with your life.

bill clinton said...

Do you think Harry Reid should resign as senate majority leader? Why do you think 60 minutes didn't ask about his quote on last nights show?

Mark Ward said...

I don't think Harry Reid should be Senate Majority Leader for many reasons...this would be a minor one. He represents all that is old and loathsome about the DFL. He's weak, tired looking, overly micromanages everything, and has taken analysis-paralysis to a whole new level.

My choice to replace him would be Russ Feingold.

cspan said...

How bout those promises to have the negotiations in public huh? You got taken, admit it.

sw said...

yeah what happened in the health care bill negotiations in the senate today? Any of you know? if it was so helpful to the public they would actually tell us. What do you all think of that?

How many of you lefties on here, if you were to read what you type out loud, would read it in a negro dialect?
