News On The March!

I've received too many emais and requests on this story not to comment on it. Rather than play the game of "Gotcha!" as the Cult does all the time, I'm honestly curious as to why this is excused.

Calgary audience fans of former U.S. VP candidate Sarah Palin? You betcha!

The vocal opponent of health care reform in the U.S. steered largely clear of the topic except to reveal a tidbit about her life growing up not far from Whitehorse. "We used to hustle over the border for health care we received in Canada," she said. "And I think now, isn't that ironic."

Where's the piling on and heaping of cries of dissent? I guess it's OK when she does it.

My favorite quote from the article was this one.

Stephanie Hansen, 18, who wore a pin with Palin's face, could barely contain her excitement. She gushed that she felt out of place among the much older audience. "I love it, I'm really glad that I came. It was really enlightening." She admitted she didn't know a lot about Palin's politics, but said she loves her nonetheless.

I guess our neighbors to the north really do like to emulate us! And congrats to Ms. Palin for achieving her goal in life thanks several million Americans. It's not every day that people get to realize their dream of being a celebrity/media personality.

Next......!

What blows me away (in addition to the dichotomy of an anti war sign next to this one), is the desperation. I thought public opinion had turned against him? Maybe this is a photo from last summer but still...

And I'm REALLY wondering what happened to all the screeds against protests? Remember when the Cult yelled, screamed and stomped their feet about Nancy Sheehan and the like? They bemoaned the "professional protester" and now we have the Tea Party.

Ah, well...remember folks...It's not ________ when they do it!

Thanks for giving us half the story.

The full quote..."Believe it or not – this was in the ‘60s – we used to hustle on over the border for health care that we would receive in Whitehorse. I remember my brother, he burned his ankle in some little kid accident thing and my parents had to put him on a train and rush him over to Whitehorse..."

Their parents brought them there.

Are you now holding people accountable for where their parents brought them when they were children? Not one of you can tell us anything about the jobs bill that was just passed so you have to talk about Palin.

If any of you are interested in the facts...here you go....

Whitehorse is in the Yukon. Read the entry from 1972 in that link - "1972 Yukon creates medical insurance plans with federal cost sharing, April 1."

Palin went in the 60's and her parents brought them there.

There's a link for you all...a link to the internet - where all knowledge exists and if it isn't on the internet - it's not true!!

Sounds a lot like the average Obama voter in '08 to me.

Well, looks like Last just eviscerated your whole point there. That's gonna leave a mark.

Last, I pulled the story from a Canadian news site that if you read the link was largely positive about Palin. I'm not holding people accountable for what their parents did. They brought their children over the border for what they thought was the best care. Are you saying that they only brought them there once? And never after 1972?

And what sort of a system did they have back then before the federal cost sharing kicked in?

My central point in all of this is that I am not going to allow the Canadian health care system to be painted as being a fiery pit of doom. Canada has the highest rate of life expectancy in the Americas. This is a fact and there is a reason for this. Any idea what that is?

I don't care if the story is positive or negative and I'm sure all the people emailed you about the story because they are such huge Palin fans and they appreciated the positive coverage of Palin? Riiiiiight.

You aren't holding people accountable? Then why did you say "I guess it's OK when she does it".

Does what?

...and who cares how many times they went or if you aren't holding people accountable. It just isn't quite the story your email buddies thought it would be. May have to talk about the jobs bill now. Darn!

Here's a couple links to the source of all knowledge - the internet.

Here's another one

According to that last link, he paid his bill like a real man who pulled his family up by his bootstraps. I love how he didn't scream for someone else to pay his medical bills.

You're back to gauging health care systems by life expectancy (you've done it twice today). See the comment in the above thread.

I think mark was referring to the protests when he said "It's OK when we do it."

Paid his bill like a real man? And you wonder why no one wants to engage in discussions with you regarding cap and trade and the like.

I was referring to Marks words of "I guess it's OK when she does it" which are right after the Palin quote. Mark isn't commenting on the protests theselves, he's commenting on the conservative reaction to protests. Rather than debate the issue or the legislation itself, let's just call conservatives stupid and then debate about stupidity charge instead of debating the event or the legislation itself.

You and your pals who bought into Hope and Change on here continue to avoid discussions on the stimulus bill and the cap and trade bill because of the contents of the bills. You were looking for an excuse to avoid discussion on it and you found your excuse now. Good work.

I was just using some exaggeration and needling y'all a bit with the line about real men and bootstraps.

For all the defending of GWB's policies we were asked to do for 3 years on here one would think that at least one of you would offer up even a few little comments or opinions of the stimulus or the cap and trade bill but nope - you all blame someone else for their failure as well as your failure to elaborate on the content of the legislation.
