Who Cares??!!!???

With all the problems we have in this country currently, does anyone really care what Herman Cain said to two women 20 years ago? I know I don't. A sex scandal? Really??!!? I'm more interested in debating his 9-9-9 plan than hearing about "harassment." I put that last word in quotes because I tend to take a decidedly anti-PC stance when it comes to this phenomenon.

I'm sure that there are people out there who are seriously harassed in one way or another but with all the new company rules and policies in place these days, most people don't get out of line. Thus, the cases we do see (and especially the ones from 20 years ago) largely originate from people who need to take a fucking chill pill. If you are that weak kneed about stuff like this, how on earth are you going to get anywhere in this world?

I'm hoping that this ends soon but the media has sadly begun their frenzy and fascination with a bright shiny object. Imagine where we would be if they put this much energy into education.

This story isn't important for itself as much as what Herman Cain's reaction to it tells us what kind of guy he is.

Cain was given a heads-up that Politico was going to break this story more than a week ago. But Cain didn't manage to get his story straight. He's said something different to every person who's interviewed him about it since it broke.

One time he said the woman got a "five figure" settlement, and another time he said it was three months severance, and now we learn the woman got $35,000, a full years salary. Now there were two women, so all of these things could be true. But Cain is so vague about it, saying he didn't remember, that he wasn't involved in the settlement, but then saying that he knew what it was and signed off on it.

I mean, getting accused of sexual harassment would be a pretty memorable thing for most people. But now we're hearing there was a lot of alcohol involved, so Herman actually might not remember what the hell he said. And if he can't remember, how can he say for sure what he did or didn't do or say? Or did it happen so many times that Cain can't remember what he said to who?

Cain has blasted one of the the women for making "baseless charges." Had he adopted a more conciliatory tone, admitting he'd made unfortunate comments that were misconstrued, and then apologized again to the woman for the misunderstanding, I would have been more convinced that there was nothing there.

As I write this there's now news of a third incident of harassment, and confirmation of harassment by a Republican pollster who who witnessed it.

The vigorous attack, the existence of gag orders and multiple payoffs indicating that the National Restaurant Association believed there was at least some validity to the claims, and the shifting stories tells us that Cain is trying to weasel out of it instead of taking responsibility for his actions.

As the Republicans keep telling us, character matters.

Well, there you have it. The liberal who cares and one who doesn't. In this case M - credit where it is due, and I agree with you that this is nothing but a cheap hit. Effective, sure, but still cheap and sleazy.

Hmmmm, a Republican with a sexual harassment history. That balances out Clinton nicely... and now there is less difference between the parties.

Why do you bother voting?
