America is Not Fighting WWIV

Steve Chapman, columnist in the Chicago Tribune, had a great column in the Sept 16the Edition. Click here if you'd like to read it.

Some quotes with which I agree completely:

"to equate our current challenges with the Nazis and Soviets is to grossly misunderstand our enemies."

"Osama bin Laden must rejoice to be depicted as endangering our entire culture and way of life."

"The vision of a monolithic Islamic movement hostile to everything we value is equally warped. We usually associate the religion with Arab militants, but the world's biggest Muslim populations are in Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and Nigeria, not the Middle East. Some Muslim countries, such as Turkey, Indonesia and Senegal, are free and democratic. The others vary greatly in political openness and personal liberty -- sort of like non-Muslim countries."

"Radical Islamic elements pose a danger to our security that will demand vigilance, resources, and in some instances, military action. But let's not make it more than it is."

Yes, let's not make it more than it is because to do so would be costly mistake that will, in fact, make things worse.

Yes, we are fighting World War IV and if the looney left keeps up with their bullshit we are going to lose.

nicely put. i admire the honest expression, and think we're gonna lose too. know why? because: unlimited money, power, weapons, worldwide political/military encirclement, including owning more than half the regimes of the countries we are fighting 'Radicalism' in, don't seem to be doing us much good so far. hmmmm. not good. add to that, that more than half of Americans (& much higher percentages around the world) DONT actually BELIEVE in the War - any of the rhetoric or surreal actions & reactions - and you have an unwinnable war syndrome on your hands. Who cares?? The rich are getting richer, we found a new 'Enemy' and Raison-d'etre (don't mention 9/11 -- THOUSANDS of innocents died BEFORE the innocents on 9.11 at the hands of our regimes / policies / or ourselves and HUNDREDS of thousands have died since 9/11, that's not 'revenge' in ANY sacred book ) more dead, more chaos, more mercenaries, more sadness, more homeless, more anger, more f-ed up politics. Who wants it to end?? who wants boring peace and worldwide freedom, war is so tragic it's beautiful, right? and gives lost minds meaning.

Well, well, well. Looks like we got ourselves one of them FOOs...Friends Of Osama's!

Saturday, my friend, don't you know that when you criticize America's policies, in addition to being a terroritst, you are actually criticizing President Bush? And when you criticize the president, you are critizing the truth. And when you criticize the truth, Tinkerbell's light goes out and she dies....

i correct myself, wanted to do this yesterday, and thank you for the feedback :-] Millions died (before the innocent thousands on 9.11) but what's a few (multiple) thousand extra.. when it comes to SAVING the world from EXTREMISM (just not ours) and saving TRUTH (Pres Bushs not Tinkerbells who can tell the difference...)

Sadly, I must inform you that, even with your math mistake, you are still giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

Traitor!
