More Victories

This has been a pretty great week. First, the good guys (on both sides) scored a major victory in regards to Iran. More information about how the NIE report was confirmed is detailed in the Times today. Apparently, our military intelligence got wind of several conversations/arguments between Iranian military personnel. Other intelligence agencies confirmed this as well. I guess there was quite a heated debated in the situation room recently between Cheney and some intelligence officers in regards to whether or not this was a ruse designed to throw us off.

Cooler, more reasoned minds prevailed (i.e. the ones who don't have to continually have to make up for small penis size by bombing people) and hopefully we can have an end to the incessant "appeal to fear" politics we have had for the last seven years.

Oh, and here's a great bit on Ahmadinejad's reaction. Read between the lines on this one. He is not happy. Sure, declaring victory was an easy one to predict but where can he go now? The only support he has he gets from standing up to the "Great Satan." Exactly how is that going to happen now? Hee Hee...I love it.

And of course we have poor President Chavez. Gosh, I hope you all can feel how bad (NOT!) I feel for Short Stuff not being able to declare himself dictator for the rest of his life. What a shame. The look on his face, seen in the link above, when he found out that he wasn't as well loved as he thought...kinda reminded me of another president when he found out Iran had abandoned its nuclear program.

Caught a bit of right wing radio on the way in today...they are just shitting themselves. They sound like a bunch of fools, trying with great desperation to cling to something that isn't there. I'm sure the nutters in Iran are doing the same thing.

Hey, maybe we could send all of them to an island and they can behave like baboons while the rest of us live our lives in a civil manner.

All in all, just about everything Bush has done has backfired or proved catastrophically mistaken: the war in Iraq, the economic plan for the war's aftermath, the treatment of Korea and its nuclear ambitions (after blasting Clinton, Bush gave Korea the same deal), ditto Iran, his abandoning of the Israel/Palestine peace deal (he blasted Clinton for even trying), now it's his last hope for a "legacy".

Bush's "uncanny" ability to look into a man's eyes and see his soul is now totally laughable, as Putin prepares to make himself dictator for life.

Speaking of Russia, the missile defense shield has Putin so ticked off that he's threatening to pull out of the nuclear arms treaties and start building new nukes. Bush has reversed years of anti-nuclear proliferation efforts with his arrogant gunslinger swagger.

While it is fun to see how badly Bush has failed, his presidency is a tragedy for the United States. It will take decades to repair the diplomatic damage. Not to mention the terrible environmental, infrastructure, educational, etc., etc., problems we'll have after funneling a trillion dollars down the rathole of Iraq.

Actually, while I agree with everything you say blk, I don't think it's fun at all to watch our country as it has been systematically taken apart by cretins, incompetents, and single ($$) minded people.

When January of 09 rolls around, I say we roll up our shirt sleeves and get to work. If people like just dave, gang bang, and sw want to continue to cling to the Titanic-let them. The rest of us will be trying to undo the damage that has been wrought and focus on actually protecting our nation and moving it forward.

just following on from very interesting feedbacks to good posts..

Credit where it's due to honesty in all walks of life, but especially to those with influence and power who are under pressure to spin reality in the service of private agendas.

People have a right to know the facts, through a government sponsored and elected by themselves, but the government as a whole has failed in its duty too many times to provide truth and policies based on actuality.

In its latest National Intelligence estimate, the nation's most famous intelligence agency has regained a lot of lost credibility and respect for (for a change) doing its job.

All of America's agencies staff a majority of extremely hard-working (if demoralised) individuals who are very talented and very frustrated when they're not allowed to do their jobs -- because of office politics. Except their office rules the fate of others in many parts of the world.

So, in these uncertain times, when America could potentially lead a new military escalation drive into more volatility with unforseen consequences where even iraq '07 will seem like a cakewalk, we need a lot more light shed on life determining facts not darkness. That's the meaning of democracy, being honest with the people (your body politic) so that they can shape their collective destiny based on accurate information.

The biggest threat to the (strong and unrivalled) United States of America isn't (middle regional power) Iran by a very long shot, but fault lines that could implode from within, based on a lack of honesty and decency from those who need to provide it the most.

Never thought i'd say this (spontaneously & mean it:) but, good job CIA.
