Torture is Cool

Well, this is the one that really pissed me off. Is there ever going to be a time in this country when people DON'T believe dumb ass shit like this? Probably not

The fact of the matter is that torture does not work. The information you get from it is very unreliable and the only purpose it serves is to further the right wing's bizarre "violence makes my dick hard" fetish. I think they have a serious problem and should seek help.

While they are doing that, the rest of us can proceed in a fashion that actually elicits results. Take the example of my recently passed grandfather who told me that when he was involved with interrogations (Pacific Theater 1942-1945) they would simply dangle the carrot of a warm meal, water, sometimes a movie (!) and before you knew it, they'd get all kinds of information about Japanese troop positions. It nauseated him as a Christian to here what was going on down at Gitmo and in other prisons around the world. And he was a lifelong Republican!

Hell, these days, the dudes down at Gitmo are falling all over themselves to claim more credit for 9-11. We don't have to do shit.

Open question [repeated] - why does Markadelphia obsess on Rush, Cheney and Palin with hardly any discussion of the politicians that supposedly DO represent his interests?

Talk about strange fetishes!

Because the things they did are still affecting us every day. And Palin would continue that or make it worse.Imagine the mentality of someone who thinks that beating the crap out of someone is necessary. This is not America.

And nice try, juris.

Palin affecting us to this day? I guess if you live in Alaska, otherwise I call bullshit.

Rush is just annoying, but M, and apparently a gaggle of other lefties, treat him as if he were the Plato of the right. Sheesh, I don't think even Rush thinks that highly of himself.

As for Cheney, well at least you are talking about someone who held a national office.

But thanks for missing the larger point.

It's because they are chicken JI. Anyone can complain and they think that if they just call the other side stupid enough times that will justify their ideas. It takes more than that, which is why most people on here can't type more than 1 line on most issues.

George W doesn't talk politics on Fox or any other news shows these days. That's sensitive mature and respectful. Which is why he recently said he owed the new president his silence, or something to that effect. Why does Cheney try to continually stir shit (i'm sorry, fear and loathing) one week after leaving the WH, or why do some channels who miss the good ol days even more than mark, invite him to? Is the real question, actually. Almost nicely setting the scene for the future, one might think. Little reality-check and another reason why, it's most ironic, that Mr. C would be the voice to alert the American people of coming doom and gloom: 9/11 HAPPENED ON HIS WATCH. At least President GWB knows that, and is remaining respectfully silent, on matters of internal security. joanne.
