Liberal Media Watch

Ah, the "liberal media." Here we have former VP Dick Cheney lobbed softball question after limp noodle question and essentially given a forum to air his bullshit. This is just Part 1!

Have you seen the stories on the Politico recently about the various conference calls?

Yeah, I was kind of wondering why the obsession with anything and everything BUT the current administration.

How 'bout that AIG - $170 BILLION and counting.

I don’t know why anyone on the left is upset about the AIG bonuses. Here is the language from the final stimulus bill, SEC 111 Executive Compensation and Corporate Governance, page H1412...

(iii) The prohibition required under clause (i) shall not be construed to prohibit any bonus payment required to be paid pursuant to a written employment contract executed on or before February 11, 2009, as such valid employment contracts are determined by the Secretary or the designee of the Secretary.

There it is in black and white – the protection language from the stimulus bill that was rammed through congress because everything in it was so important for the future of our country. Everyone on "your side" owns those AIG bailouts. Either Obama did not know the provision was in there, which validates the Republican point that no one read this bill. Or he did, and signed it anyway, which means the outrage is fake. I’m glad they are now getting around to reading the bill they signed. Now that’s change I can believe in.

We are a nation of laws. My business law class just spent 4 months dissecting contract law. If you think the economy's bad now, wait till the world gets the message that American business and the legally binding terms of contracts between parties they enter into every day can now be modified by a judge or a politician whenever the politician feels like it.

Oops, my bad Juris. We aren’t talking about current events on here anymore. We should keep talking about the last administration. Well, in March of 2007, truthgirl told me...

Please do some research on potential universal health care models, look at Mass's uhc and how it worked, and realize that you have no idea what our universal health care is going to look like.

Now after posting the words from the founder of the Canadian Healthcare system where he validated everything I said about Canada, now we have this, from Mondays New York Times...

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/16/health/policy/16mass.html?_r=2&hp

Having promised massive subsidies for universal health care for the residents of their state, looks like politicians in Massachusetts have finally begun to admit that their universal health care program is unaffordable for the state’s taxpayers. It was pretty clear to some of us from the get-go that it would overwhelm the state’s budget...it was just a matter of time. You can flush those intentions now – the results are starting to come in. All the state really did was buy hundreds of thousands of residents into heavily regulated insurance plans by moving around some existing pots of money and raising taxes. They didn’t build a functioning marketplace with cost-conscious consumers, nor did they pursue (initially) the kinds of heavy-handed, government-imposed cost controls that many politicians seem to love.

Will the Obama team follow the Massachusetts strategy - cover everybody first with a massive new entitlement program and worry about imposing cost-controls later? If they are successful in passing the initial legislation, he and your Congress will be back in a year or two or three - when the coverage train has already left the station - to say the financial future of the country depends on agreeing to government-imposed cost constraints, just as Massachusetts officials are doing today.

What’s really going on here - some anonymous "experts" candidly admit that government-written "payment practices" are highly unlikely to obtain the desired results. Instead, these "experts" say, "the state and federal governments may need to place actual limits on health spending, which could lead to rationing of care".

Now bring forth "your" research... it worked so well for you last time. Maybe you should spend 8 minutes surfing the net instead of 5 this time.

Oops, my bad Juris.

C'mon keep up. There's a whole new Cheney link to get all worked up over.

You GO, M!

Apparently, M just can't get enough Dick.

I can only imagine what the reaction would be had GWB made a quip like that about the special olympics. Baracks teleprompter has denied all responsibility.

I can only imagine what the reaction would be if GWB presented the Russian premier with a red button that had the wrong word on it.

I can only imagine what the reaction on here would have been if GWB had given British PM Gordon Brown a box of 25 DVDs that did not work in European DVD players. Ahhhh the good ol' days when that would have been seen as proof positive on here that a president has no understanding of the world outside the USA, etc etc etc.

My softball league starts in a little over a month. Weeeeeeeee....
