Oh, Dick.....Dick, Dick, Dick

There has been much chiding of myself in comments regarding the idea that I can't "move on" from the Bush Cheney years. It's a nice little fantasy that the right, in typical fashion, has manufactured against the left in the pitiful attempt to deflect attention away from their criminal activities and complete incompetence of the last eight years. "See? He can't let go!" is their cry and it has played out on this blog just as it has in all of the rest of the media.

My initial response was that it is quite foolish of anyone, regardless of their political stripes, to simply ignore the effects of any administration's policies (bad or good) and pretend they never happened. The effects of what Dick and George did to this country will be felt for decades if not longer. So, sorry, but I will be continuing to talk about them along with the all of the latest and greatest current events which, to anyone who actually takes the time to think, have a large degree of relevance to decisions President Bush made.....SIX MONTHS AGO!

Of course, the truly funny part about all of this (and helping me out immensely) is that they don't want to go away either. Cheney, Rice, McCain et al have been hitting all the major chat shows over the last month so to say that the left won't "let it go" is quite hilarious....and hypocritical which shouldn't surprise anyone. What is even more funny is that our former VP, in his latest round of media appearances, may have fucked himself......really fucked himself. And I am here to tell all of you that I love it.

From CSM.

Crusading Spanish human rights judge Baltasar Garzón is now considering criminal charges against top Bush administration officials for the torture of five Spanish citizens held at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Judge Garzón's previous prosecution of Gen. Augusto Pinochet eventually resulted in the Chilean dictator's arrest in Britain.

OH NO HE DI-ENT!

So funny that I think I actually laughed off one of my testicles is the fact that none of the men named in Garzon's investigation may have to say a fucking thing about Cheney because Cheney himself WON'T FUCKING SHUT UP ABOUT IT!! In all of his interviews that he has given since his departure from DC, Dick has made it a point to essentially state that torture makes our country safer. In particular, President Obama's new policies (see: closing of Gitmo) have made our country prone to attack. "We must torture," he cries at the top of his lungs, "it worked for us!"

His family may want to to try to get him to check his ego in the lobby before he enters the theater and shut his fucking mouth because our ol' Buddy Richie might find hisself in the hoosegow. As of yet, Richard Bruce Cheney has not been named but Gonzalez and Yoo have been. How long do you suppose it will be before they start flapping their gums, as many top Bush administration officials already are about how frequently torture was used and, sadly, how none of it yielded any useful information? Could it be the we could see a time in the near future when former administration officials won't be able to travel due to fears of being arrested for war crimes? Hoo boy...I can't wait to see the right spin themselves out of this one which we all know they will:)

In sum, good readers, I wanted to go on record and make all of you a promise: as long as Dick's only conviction is his own vanity, I am going to talk about what he says on this blog. It might be a tough nut for some of you to swallow but, as our current president begins representing our country at this week's G-20 summit in London, the rest of you can probably see that we really have a lot of 'splainin' to do, Lucy!

Methinks Dick might be in a wee bit of trouble now.

You calling it a manufactured fantasy is the manufactured fantasy here. Anyone reading your blog lately can see that you refuse to discuss/defend obamas policies on here. Sure you'll reference certain events that happen that involve him but, looking at what you've posted on here this year, that's about the extent of it. You're the one who "needs them on the wall".

Perhaps if you offered up any kind of alternative to, say, the closing of gitmo (like telling us what you think should be done with the folks who are there) then you might have some discussion on here.

I've learned so much from the posters on Kevins blog, like being able to spot how you can just say "none of it yielded any useful information" and try to pass that off as fact. It isn't fact. You don't know what information it yielded. (here is the point where you go searching for a link to prove me wrong....don't waste your time). I'm not saying that it yielded tons of useful information - I'm saying that you don't know what information was gathered from it.

Speaking of the G20 summit - I thought Obama was going to "change the world". Why are those people on "your side" breaking windows and telling us we should "abolish money"?

"can see that you refuse to discuss/defend obamas policies"

What a load of shit. Mark has been talking about Barack Obama for two years. His written several posts about Obama and his policies since taking office and has criticized him on a couple of occasions.

"just say "none of it yielded any useful information"

That's what former Bush administration officials are now saying so why does Mark need to say it? Next...

"Why are those people on "your side" breaking windows and telling us we should "abolish money"?"

As usual, Mark is proved right once again. Conservatives think that those people are actually liberals because they get get passed their two dimensional way of thinking.

I have to say, last, I am surprised at you. Your last few posts have offered some real insight into the issues we face today and suddenly you are eating from the narrow minded tree again. Perhaps you should unlearn what those fucking rednecks on Kevin's blog have "taught" you because the stuff that I have read over there is complete lies and, as Mark says, psychotic crap.

Last, did you read the Christian Science Monitor link that Mark provided? Due to the issue of torture, we have strained relations right now with Europe. Mark correctly correlated Obama's G-20 trip with the necessity of mending a whole lot of fences over there.

Mark has been talking about Obama the person, his books, etc....and all of a sudden there is a complete blackout on here regarding talking about Obamas policies and legislation which are absolutely having relevance. That's what I was saying, so it's not a load of shit. Mark said that Obamas election was going to change the world and I noticed that Obamas election hasn't even changed his blog.

What? Now you believe Bush Administration officials? It's hilarious how you folks can switch back and forth like that. 1 week they are the biggest bunch of criminals in the history of the planet and now by golly they are a reliable, relevant source of information and truth and now you believe them.

Perhaps you could tell me if those protestors are chomping at the bits to vote for Dan Hannen. Mark uses the "your side" bit all the time so if you disagree with the point then state your counter argument but don't criticize the thought process becuase that thought process is *exactly* how things operate on here.

...and did you notice how many people responded to my insightful posts? 1 person? Posting an insightful post on here is a complete waste of time so I decided to troll the muck and bingo - the 1 line insult crew comes out.

Several of those rednecks over there are engineers.

My points thus far...
1. Mark has not talked about Obamas policies or legislation passed by Obama since Obama became president (and there has been plenty).
2. None of us here know what information was gathered from torture.
3. We do not know what Mark would do with the gitmo prisoners because he won't say.
4. You still haven't posted your healthcare plan for the nation.

Let's take last's points one by one.

1. The day after Obama was sworn in Mark put up a video regarding the first two executive orders...wage freezes and secrecy. A week later he put up a post about Obama's first step into PR with the Muslim world. A few days after that Mark left two posts about his cabinet picks, specifically how Daschle was a poor choice. He did get off on the Oscar thing for awhile but came back with a post entitled "Once again Remarkable" in which he pointed to cuts in entitlement programs.

What am I missing here, folks?

2. Probably true but to say that we have to torture people to save lives is sheer idiocy.

3. I think Mark has stated in the past that terrorists should be treated as international criminals and tried in court. I would suppose that he thinks the same about the Gitmo detainees.

4. Mark hasn't or someone else? Unclear on this one.

"Several of those rednecks over there are engineers."

And your point is...?

1. White House wage freezes may have happened but government wages sure haven't been froze. The local economy and housing market around DC is booming. Why do you suppose that is?

Yeah, those cabinet picks who didn't like paying their taxes very much. That's all you folks can find to cheer about thus far? One of the cabinet picks he praised resigned (Gregg) because the census is going to be done by Rahm Emanuel and Acorn (I said acorn to give you all something to respond to even though you know they are going to play a role in doing the new census). I can only imagine (heehee) what folks on the other "side" would have said if Karl Rove would have been put in charge of the census.

2. Whether or not we should torture people isn't what I was talking about - I'm disputing the lie that was peddled that we know for a fact that no info was gathered from torture. You don't know, I don't know and Mark doesn't know.

3. Be more specific about what court and where and why...gimme more than 1 line. Need specifics....and I'm even considering letting you all form your opinion from some link on this one.

4. That is something between torch, downtown and myself. They know what I am talking about.

My point is that there hasn't been one peep about Obamas budget or the deficits it is going to create. Not one peep about the massive stimulus bill they got passed that you all read. Defend your legislation - and all this time I thought he was going to hold Obama more accountable than GWB. I was wrong and I admit it.

Show me the light.

I thought I would chime in here and offer my two cents. It would be nice if Mark did talk about the things you mention, last. I am very concerned about the spending and really am not clear at all President Obama plans to reduce the deficit which he says he will do.

But, at the end of the day, it's his site. He can talk about whatever he wants.

Well it looks like the Attorney General in Spain isn't going to pursue it. He said a trial of the men would have turned Spains National Court "into a plaything" to be used for political ends. Guess some people on here forgot that we don't answer to Spanish courts. Inconvenient truths like that are possible when you do things like declare your independence around 233 years ago. The notion that the Spanish Court can apply "universal justice" by trying people for crimes committed outside of their own sovereignty is pretty arrogant don't you think? But hey - it's worthy of cheer over at markadelphia.blogspot.com!!!

But if you folks want to continue your quest to make Spain the arbiter of American action, feel free to do so. Now that is change I can believe in.
