It's obviously because they are all red necked knuckle dragging morons, so far removed from the nuanced, intellectual, compassionate Left that they hardly rate being called the same species. Typical democrat tactic-nothing new. You can't counter the message on it's merits, so you have to deride the messenger. Way to win the debate, guy.
