Wow.

I have to admit that, while I liked Al Franken, I did not think he was the strongest Democrat my home state could field. After watching this video, I realize how wrong I was. Way to go, Senator Franken.

So today you used terms such as insanity, lunacy, willfully ignorant, paranoid, testosterone-fueled, as well as morons who want blood to describe folks on the "other side", then you post a video of people calmly asking Al Franken questions and calmly listening very attentively to what he is saying. This video really doesn't fit your narrative on here...is this really the "angry mob" the person who titled this video says it is?

Props to Al. Well done.

I think it's rather sad that Al Franken of all people seems to be one of the only Democrats with the balls to talk to his constituency. The rest of them seem to have forgotten that it's not the citizens' job justify their views to the elected official, it's the officials' job to justify their views (and votes) to the citizens.

In fairness, the Democrats are hardly alone in that, they have most of the Republicans right in there with em.

I doubt I'll agree with many of his positions, but still... well done.

Actually, I'm happy to be wrong, last. It's great that they aren't that way and they are calm. Now, do you think their demeanor is how the majority of the base behaves?

Grumpy, the words "balls" and "Democrats" rarely go together.

"do you think..."

"majority of..."

Way to go for those specifics.

How the base behaves is a pretty moot point when you have a veto-proof majority. If the problem were limited to the idiot insame morons, your health care bill would have been passed by now.

I usually don't post links but this one is too good to pass up.

Obamas words are in quotes -

"Instead of honest debate, we have seen scare tactics."

is followed a a few minutes later by:

"Everyone in this room knows what will happen if we do nothing. Our deficit will grow. More families will go bankrupt. More businesses will close. More Americans will lose their coverage when they are sick and need it most. And more will die as a result."

(Yeah, you're not the ones scaring people.)

"Insurance companies will be required to cover, with no extra charge, routine checkups and preventive care, like mammograms and colonoscopies"

More coverage at less cost. (Yeah right.)

"This exchange will take effect in four years, which will give us time to do it right."

But wait! Aren't people dying? (AAAAAAHHHHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!)

"Not a dollar of the Medicare trust fund will be used to pay for this plan."

I should hope not, since there isn't any Medicare trust fund. (AAAHAHAHAHA - you folks really do think people aren't paying attention)

"The only thing this plan would eliminate is the hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and fraud...Reducing the waste and inefficiency in Medicare and Medicaid will pay for most of this plan."

But wait! If we can identify hundreds of billions of dollars in waste and fraud in Medicare and Medicaid and we know how to eliminate it, why haven't we done so already? Why don't we do so--right now! (AAAHAHAHAHAA)

And all this time, I thought "people were starting to get involved in this new era of politics". It's only markadelphia-approved behaviors that count as "getting involved" and "giving a shit". OK, time for you all to insult conservatives some more because you got nothing new in that speech last night.

Oh yeah, how about this whopper -

Obama said in the speech - "But by avoiding some of the overhead that gets eaten up at private companies by profits, excessive administrative costs and executive salaries, it could provide a good deal for consumers."

...and all this time I thought profit is what is left over after overhead expenses are met. I'm even further behind this new era of politics than I thought. Must be my testosterone-fueled, raging understanding of how business works.

(...and get re-elected before the effects of socialized medicine are noticed by the voting public.)

A lot of people will have died by then.

Hey, look - there's Joe Wilson.

Avoiding excessive administrative costs... Yeah, government has always been GREAT at that...
