Ah, yes...

I think I need to chill out.

If I wait long enough...have patience...inevitably...it all works out:)

A while back, I was taken to the mat over just what exactly McCain campaign staffers thought about Sarah Palin. Carl Cameron of Fox News put out a story post election 2008 that said staffers thought Palin was incapable of handling the vice presidency due to incompetence. The sources he used were unnamed and many jumped on me for even talking about it...saying the story was hearsay and rumor mongering ("many" meaning men that think Sarah Palin is hot and want to fuck her).

But now we have this little tidbit from Steve Schmidt, McCain campaign manager.

I think that she has talents, but you know, my honest view is that she would not be a winning candidate for the Republican Party in 2012, and in fact, were she to be the nominee, we could have a catastrophic election result.

No shit. And why is that, Steve?

And here I thought it was conservatives that were supposed to be wanking for Palin.

Still with the Palin obsession. Slow news day, Marky?

Conservatives aren't a monolithic entity. They do line up behind the leader of their party in a much more disciplined fashion than the Democrats do, that's for sure.

But one of the main reasons that McCain picked someone so far out in right field as Palin is that huge swaths of the conservative base despise McCain. He needed someone to "balance" the ticket.

My father hates McCain, and curses McCain and Kennedy in the same breath. This is because McCain and "country club" Republicans like him want to reform immigration policy in a way that's friendly to business (and therefore immigrants).

Part of that hatred of McCain is due to racism (as in my father's case), and part of it is a legitimate fear that Americans will lose their jobs to low-wage legal immigrants.
