What it means to be a Real American

The worst day of Obama's presidency, folks. The ego has landed. The world has rejected Obama. For those of you ... who are upset that I sound gleeful, I am. I don't deny it. I'm happy. Anything that gets in the way of Barack Obama accomplishing his domestic agenda is fine with me.

-Rush Limbaugh, speaking on the rejection of Chicago as host to the 2016 Olympics, 10-2-09

So markadelphia, would you consider this whole olympic episode a win for obama? You sure are trying hard to make it that way. Won't work.

I don't consider it a win or a loss. He tried, in a last ditch attempt, to get his home town the Olympics. He didn't get it so it's not a win. It's not a loss either...for him anyway. It is a loss for us contrary to your thoughts in the previous post.

If he had been on the committee, working for years to get the Olympics to Chicago, then I would consider it a loss. I think he himself knew going in that it would be an uphill battle and he would probably not make much of diffence but it just shows what kind of a man he is...he tried.

And I think lines like Boss Limbaugh's here really show where the sentiments of the right lie.

I wouldn't give a shit about Limbaugh even if I was pumped full of ExLax.

I am happy though to see anything that impedes the Obama and left-wing Dem agenda.

Note: The left wing Dem agenda has been running onto the rocks of the moderate Dem wing - not the Repubs. You do recall how the Dems one both houses of Congress (including a super majority in the Senate). Just makes me laugh my ass off every time you throw up some right-wing bogey-man to blame for the failure of the Dems to make progress.

Actually it proves Maher's point that there is no left wing in this country...we have a center right party and a crazy party. So I would think you would be happy.

I, however, am not. It just hastens our failure.

Kind of makes you wonder why you even bother with it all doesn't it? It proves mahers point but it also points out that republicand are not holding up your beautiful agenda. U got everything you wanted election wise last November and you are still talking about failure. sucks to be you. U said nobody listened to rush anymore.

You and Maher can both suck my ass. That agenda doesn't fly even in your own goddam party. If you don't like it, by all means throw your sorry ass off a bridge; cause I know the country will never be what I want, and I CAN live with that.

Boo fuckin hoo for you.

Congratulations. You just proved that you listen to Rush more than I do.

I assume that Rush also talked about the rampant corruption in Chicago and the corrupt shenanigans surrounding Chicago's Olympics bids? For instance, the chairman (?) of the committee buying land right across from where the Olympic Village was supposed to go so that he could make a huge profit off the location. Why aren't you talking about that too?

sooo...."what it means to be a REAL american", if i'm following you right, is to become president and then use unprecedented blatant methods (and laughably crude salesmanship) to land an olympic games for your hometown.

and then to epically FAIL. to get yourself bitch-slapped by the IOC in the most insultingly visible, public way imaginable. to have your epic FAILURE lead the news in every paper/news broadcast in the world. to FAIL so catastrophically, that your FAILURE casts no aspersions on you country, but rather solely on you, the president.

so, in your idiot worldview, being a "real american" means becoming a giant impotent laughingstock? being the butt of jokes and sniggers of all the tinpot dictators and hoods you bow to on camera?

then i guess obama is a real american. we can all be so proud!
