As of Yet, No Response

Ten days ago, Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's Hardball, offered to have any conservative on his show (appearance fee and all) to dispute any of the things Rush Limbaugh has been saying lately. He has added just yesterday that it could be something incredibly minor with which a GOP member disagrees...anything at all...

Thus far, there have been no takers. I'm not surprised.

When Rush says things like "The Obama administration is not of this country," he gets higher ratings. Those ratings mean more people and that's what the GOP desperately needs because more people means more votes. So, essentially, Rush Limbaugh is one of the heads (see: Cerebus) of the GOP.

Go against him for any reason and you are banished from Cult grounds.

And the Democrats fall all over themselves to show where they disagree with Alan Grayson, Maxine Waters and Dennis Kucinich, huh?

At least those three are actually Democrat officeholders.

If Sean Hannity offered to host any Democrat so as to browbeat him with what Keith Olbermann says, what would be your opinion?

Maybe those gop folks want to go on shows that people actually watch.

Hannity brow beats Democrats on a regular basis every night on his show. Last I heard, Hannity still hadn't taken Olbermann's bet on water boarding either.

The GOP is filled with cowards. One, they would never go on Matthews show because they wouldn't like his questions. Two, going against Rush is sacrilege. To them it's like disagreeing with Jesus.

So what? Expecting a Republican to defend or attack his own party on the basis of what Rush says makes neither more nor less sense than expecting a Democrat to defend or attack his own party on the basis of what Olbermann says.

You can call Republicans cowards all you want, and in many specific instances I'll agree with you. That doesn't change the fact that Democrats are skittish about associating themselves with quite a few other Democrat officeholders, much less the punditry of their own supporters.

Hell, the only reason Critz won in PA was because he ran against ObamaCare, Stimulus and bailouts. In other words, against his own party's signature policies, passed at the insistence of his own Speaker, Majority Leader and President.

Kettle, meet pot.

That's not why he won. He won because he promised jobs to an area hit hard by the recession. He won because he wants tax cuts for the middle class and campaigned on letting the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy expire.

Go read his web site. Markadelphia put up the link.

Wait a minute - didn't M quote a Critz voter that he supported him because he was Murtha's protege and Murtha had brought millions of jobs to the area?

How desperate can you be when you IGNORE the major theme of the Critz campaign - distance from the progressive wing of the Democrats.
