What Would You Say?

Check out this video of First Lady Michelle Obama answering a question. Since many readers here have the immigration issue and new AZ law all figured out, what would you say to this young student? More importantly, what would you DO?

Bring back the bracero program for Mexicans that just want short-term or seasonal work. Otherwise, queue up just like everyone else that wants to immigrate.

Pres. Calderon had the audacity to say that the U.S. should not "criminalize migration". Oh really? So if I waltz south across the border and look for work or start up a small business - without papers - the Mexican govt has no problem with that? How about their southern border - how do they treat Guatemalans 'migrating north'? Even for a Mexican, that hypocrisy is over the top.

Once again, it's up to the folks out of power to come up with a solution. I certainly don't have the Arizona law figured out so I'm really not sure who Mark is talking to here.

I blame the assault weapons ban for everything.

Here is another voice in support of the AZ law - from that bastion of right-wing-nuttery: The Christian Science Monitor. [/sarc]

Apparently last, progressive/liberals only know how to govern when they are out of power. Give them power and they just ask what we think should be done about tough problems.

You're going to have to do better than the opinion section of a magazine.

Yo sam, CSM isn't a magazine. It also isn't right-wing (hence my sarcasm tag). Yes, it was opinion, an MSM opinion. That's all that is being discussed about the AZ law - not what it actually does, but what everyone's opinion about it is. You got anything more to say, or have you exhausted your posting ability with that one sentence?

Actually it is a weekly magazine and a web site that isn't mainstream.

I don't live in Arizona. I live in Texas, another state that should now be embarrassed showing its face in public. My opinion on what goes on there is based on my experiences here with immigration issues which means they aren't exactly the same. Our governor may be bat shit but at least he understands the potential problems that can arise from this new law.

No chit Juris. They had all the answers when GWB was pres, now they ask us what we would do rather than defend what Obama is doing (or not doing).

Probably because it's easy to stay on offense. Defense isn't as easy many times.
