Good News on Housing

I've got loads to talk about today so I'm going to put up a few brief posts.

You don't hear the words "Good News" and "Housing" very often together so it's nice to hear that US Homebuilders confidence is at a six year high. Builders also report seeing their highest sales levels since July of 2006.

That's great news, folks, because it means we are climbing up from the bottom.

Meanwhile, not so good news on GM.

What was it that Obama said about the govt not being involved in running the company, and getting out as quickly as possible. Okay, I can understand that a $30B loss to the taxpayers might hold you back a bit.

I don't get the link, juris. It seems like it supports everything that I have been asserting.

The result: GM spends an awful lot of time checking in with the people who administer TARP over everything from hiring to executive compensation and management. For a global company, that adds up to a lot of distraction.

But as GM's financial health began to improve, I could detect no real sense of urgency, or even interest, on the part of the government to relinquish control. Quite the contrary, it seemed that the TARP program at GM was expanding and digging in for the long haul.

But nobody who had decision-making authority on the IPO—a show largely run by Treasury—liked my idea.

So long as TARP money is wrapped up in GM, the company will never shake its "Government Motors" image. That label, as competitors and GM employees are keenly aware, is code for one thing: "GM is a failure."

Ah, I get it. I guess I thought I was going to find something about how GM is going to go bankrupt any day now and it's all because of the government.

He makes a good point in this piece and I tend to agree with him. Sell the remaining shares, take the political hit for a couple of days, and then move on. GM will be better off.

and I tend to agree with him.

But your guy, the Big O, doesn't. His acts do not accord with those words of his that you do so love. Does that bother you, just a little maybe?

You have a lot of love for Forbes as I recall. Right?

It doesn't bother me at all. I think your perception of what an Obama supporter thinks and feels is as fictional as the character of Barack X, created by the Right.
