No Such Thing As Obamacare

There is no such thing as ObamaCare. You can't sign up for ObamaCare. You're signing up for an Anthem (ph) policy or an Aetna policy, or a WellPoint policy. It is private insurance. And private insurance companies have been doing closed networks for years.

Senator Angus King, I-Maine, on the lying about the Affordable Care Act.

That's the thing that Republicans refuse to acknowledge. The ACA is private insurance! Sold by private insurance companies! To private individuals!

You never have to go to the ACA website if you don't want to, and you'll still get the benefit of all the great things the ACA provides except the subsidy: coverage of college-age students, no limitations on lifetime coverage, no pre-existing condition clauses, etc.

The ACA website is just a front-end to the insurance company websites and the income calculator, which you can completely skip if you know you won't qualify for a subsidy and you already know what company you want to buy from.

You're right. It is not single payer, nor anything like Medicare. But "Obamacare" is another convenient moniker like "Watergate" to put into the minds of Americans the "nefarious" intentions of the law. LOL
