She Almost Had Me

For a brief 24 hour period this week, I considered the possibility of Hillary as the number two on the Democratic ticket. While it is true that I don't like her and think she is just about as wrong for this country as President Bush is, she would help Obama get into the White House. I mulled over the cost of doing business with the Clintons, the concept of keeping your enemies close, and thought that, in the spirit of being open minded, giving her a chance at the VP post might be a good idea.

And then she opened her mouth and I was reminded why she is revolting.

My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it

I don't really care if she was tired or had a brain fart when she said this...it is just plain wrong. Given the fact that Senator Obama has received hundreds of death threats since declaring his candidacy, this statement is so unbelievably insensitive that there is no way she should be VP.

Obama can win without her and her name should be thrown in the fucking trash heap.

Hey, Mark, long time no talk. I left a response down below. You really need to lighten up.

I think Hillary would be a good president although pretty much every guy I know in the military hates her.I think that is because she is a woman. Most of the people I serve with like Obama.

If you get back to Racine this summer, give my dad a hug. He needs it.

While I don't particularly like Hillary, and don't think she should be the VP candidate, people are overreacting to this. Bad things can happen to candidates: Paul Wellstone's plane crashed weeks before the general election.

But, as Obama found out with his comment about guns and religion, people don't like to hear unpleasant or unflattering truths.

Obama needs someone who will help deliver a different demographic. Hillary doesn't really provide additional depth to the ticket. The Democrats need a person who will provide the tipping point in a pivotal state that shares similar demographics with other states.

That probably means a moderate to conservative Democratic governor from the South or West. And there are some women who fit that bill; Hillary isn't the only gal in town.

I think it should be Ted Strickland from Ohio. He could deliver that state and then Obama wouldn't have to worry about Florida.

i have this sneaking suspicion :/ that HC knows something we don't. This may be verging on 'Jason Bourne' with my current ME-scenarios imagination blending stranger-than-movie-facts, with historical precedent, but does she have an inkling that he's gonna get whacked? (God forbid, anyone in Iraq, the US or anywhere, getting whacked) Has anyone senior & stealthy from her campaign (you know the movie take: the 'dark side' CIA within the good guys 'real CIA') been having low key cafe conversations with Mossad, Blackwater, Al-Q or Colombian paramilitaries, to remove OB a la Bobby K, all of which will be blamed on Iran, killing 2 birds with one tragic stone: setting up the next invasion and and annointing the new Queen of Ambition. As Sherlock Holmes said (i think) if it's not impossible it's probable.

Really liked Ben's last two posts btw.

Mark, keep your mind and heart big, do the right thing. You'll only feel guilt if it doesn't feel right. Balance comes from not doing anyone wrong (when we know it to be wrong) and being true to oneself. Joanne
