Seriously...WTF???!!?

It's been a few days but I still don't understand Newt Gingrich. What does this mean?

What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]?

Newt thinks that this is "the most accurate, predictive model" in analyzing President Obama. Apparently, the explanation is that this is some sort of redux of Dinsesh D'Souza's recent piece (see: gibberish) in Forbes but I just can't believe that Newt said it. I don't agree with the guy on most issues but for him to move this far right into birtherville is simply shocking. I mean, he is a smart guy, right?

Besides, I thought that President Obama was akin to King George with the Tea Party hoping to take him down. Now he's anti-colonial? I can't keep up...:(

Why does a liberal blogger ONLY talk about the party out of power (and a guy who hasn't been a player for more than a decade at that)? It's like you're obsessed or something. About like a Bircher and commies. Weird, just weird.

Seriously, if you can't speak positively about your own party, why speak about politics at all. You have cultural and other interests - maybe you should focus on them just a bit more. Just a suggestion of course.

Why do some people who comment here sing a one note samba (party out of power, talk about your party blah blah blah) while completely refusing to see other posts? Marka did a whole series of posts on education and even one dedicated to you, juris, which I thought was pretty data driven. There was also the one about the success of the auto bailout and Detroit.

Why talk about the party out of power? Well, as recent history has shown us, power shifts from one party to the other quite easily.

The party currently out of power constantly spouts lies, and caters to the hatred and fear of Americans who are afraid of losing their privileged position in society. The party out of power wants to turn back the clock to the 1890s and let corporations run amok. All the while pretending that they love "freedom," but doing everything they can to curtail social freedoms.

And the party out of power may wrest one or two houses of Congress from the party in power this November.

Newt Gingrich is an intelligent man. He also appears to be an evil man. You can almost forgive Sarah Palin because she's so ignorant. And Glenn Beck because he's just saying what he's being paid to say.

But Newt Gingrich knows full well that every word he spouts is a lie, and he revels in it like some B-movie villainous mastermind. Such cynical self-serving hypocrisy cannot be allowed to go unchallenged. The man controls millions of dollars of corporate money and is using it to sway public opinion. It was, after all, the "powerless" Newt Gingrich and the Defense Policy Board that was one of the most powerful forces to railroad us into attacking Iraq.

True, and every word from M about the Repubs is straight from his reputed Repub playbook. It's not all that unlike some thundering Christian evangelical talking about Satan more than Jesus.

Sorry I missed the education posts - vacation time is offline time; when (if) I have time I'll go back and look at those. As for the post based on my comment - it was mostly partisan spinning about the upcoming election. The Dem pundits aren't expecting much - holding on to power is about it, or worse, losing power - without ever considering it to be a consequence of the courses of action THEY undertook.

And the incessant blaring about the Repubs really is tiresome - at least to someone without party allegiance. Maybe there are Repub backers who love all the attention. Maybe M really doesn't give a shit about WHAT (e.g. HCRA) the Dems do so long as they are in power. I like to give him credit for being a more interesting person than that (ca. the Manzi articles) - though at times I wonder if I am not being overly generous (see Corporate Force or anytime his Repub button is pushed).

The party currently out of power constantly spouts lies...

"If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor."

"When I am President, lobbyists won't find a job in my White House."

"I will not sign any non-emergency bill without giving the American public an opportunity to review and comment on the White House website for five days."

"I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."

Good thing the Party of Truth(tm) is in power, huh?

Success of the auto bailout? You call that a success? The reason he (and most of you as well) talks about republicans so much is because the accomplishments of obama are so few. Deal with it.
