Well, people accuse me all the time of being a statist. Statism encompasses communism, socialism etc so Serial is simply repeating back the song you guys sing continually. It's not my barometer that needs adjusting.

There is no logical reason why anyone should be a Republican unless you have millions of dollars and even then one has to wonder why considering the following.
A Democrat (actually a socialist) beat Adolph Hitler and started a program that has reduced poverty in the elderly to single digits. Oh, and he also saved us from conservative policies that bankrupted our country. A Democrat from MO dropped an atomic bomb on Japan to end the war while also jailing corporate executives who were war profiteering. A Democrat made the Soviets blink when they put nuclear missiles in Cuba. A Democrat passed the Civil Rights Act and Medicare which raised the standard of living for millions. A Democrat massively grew this economy in the 1990s, reformed welfare, and ran four years of budget surpluses while stopping genocide in the Balkans.
And a Democrat enacted policies which have seen 22 straight months of private sector job growth while also cleaning up after yet another FUBAR GOP economic mess. He did this in addition to taking out a rising leader of Al Qaeda, sending a mass a mass murderer of 40 years scurrying into a sewer pipe, and giving the man behind 9-11 a Moe Green special.
And all of these are just a few highlights. Obviously, I could go on. We're a powerhouse of a country because (not in spite of) Democratic policies and initiatives.
As I've said before, there isn't really any thinking when it comes to the right side of the aisle these days, it's all emotion and preference. The GOP have failed at nearly every thing they've done and, honestly, there hasn't been a decent Republican since Dwight David Eisenhower. If people took the time to think and compare results...if anyone did...there would never be a Republican...heck, a conservative/libertarian of any kind, elected again.
