It Always Takes A Few Dead Bodies

I'm happy to report that Anoka-Hennepin schools have reversed their awful bullying policy and now allow homosexuality to be talked about openly by resolving the pending litigation and civil rights issues. I'm not at all happy that, as is usually the case, it took dead bodies to effect any sort of change.

I may be in a different district than Anoka-Hennepin but when I became a teacher, the well being of all children became my responsibility. Those kids, just like the ones I teach, were my kids. I will always feel that loss every single day for the rest of my life. Anyone who seeks to undermine the well being of a student anywhere near my back yard is going to get me up their fucking ass morning, noon, and night until they back off and keep their views to themselves.

How it took this long is a fine example of what happens when we allow bigots and ignorant homophobes to set policy. More often than not, they simply don't think and this is the kind of bullshit that happens. People who take that extra step into action (based on their ignorant bias) should be immediately held legally accountable for their actions. Honestly, they should be put in fucking prison for civil rights violations and not one of those country club jails...FEDERAL pound me in the ass prison.

It worked in the 60s and it would damn well work now.

This is at least the fourth or fifth time you've mentioned it and I am a bit disappointed.

Do you actually think it's appropriate to condone sexual assault upon people convicted of crimes? I mean, if you think it should actually be part of the punishment, then fine - but shouldn't it then be part of the sentencing and out in the open?

But to condone the hidden and brutal sexual assault of someone just because you don't like what they did - but without actually making that as part of the punishment - that's kinda cowardly don't you think? Beyond cowardly, if you are unwilling to express the assault as part of the actual punishment and prefer it to be a hidden thing then that's not far from being an accessory to the criminal act itself.

Sounds like someone doesn't understand the descriptive concept of hyperbole.

Sasqueef doesn't understand hyperbole. That's just a straightforward statement of rage and frustration from Mark. Although if Mark claims that it is hyperbole, I would wonder why he can't see the obvious parallel with Kevin Baker's "nuke 'em from orbit" laugh line.

Hyperbole (play /haɪˈpɜrbəliː/ hy-PUR-bə-lee;[1] Greek: ὑπερβολή, 'exaggeration') is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but is not meant to be taken literally.

Prison rape in the United States
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Prison rape commonly refers to the rape of inmates in prison by other inmates or prison staff.

In 2001, Human Rights Watch estimated that at least 140,000 inmates had been raped while incarcerated.

Something that happens at least 140,000 times a year happens way too often to be considered within the realm of exaggeration.

This kind of vicious, and homophobic, sentiment is precisely why we have the 8th Amdt.

Yeah, that's a nice try on pretending to be compassionate, fellers, but I'm not buying it. Smells an awful lot like Projection/Flipping to me. To be honest, though, I stole the line about federal prison from Matt Taibi. But here's what I don't get....

You guys are all about justice and the law, right? Do you think that people who essentially caused (through negligence) the deaths of 9 students should be coddled? I don't. Barb Anderson and Co. are responsible for this outrage and this sort of behavior should not be tolerated.

And this doesn't even address the intrusion by government into people's lives...something else that all of you have reminded me several times that you are vehemently against. So, let's dispense with the faux outrage, shall we?

I am outraged that Palin is such a dumb twat!

Accurately quoting/summarizing Mark's statements == "projection/flipping". Right. Gotcha.

Snort.

No, I don't consider myself compassionate in the slightest when it comes to politics or crime. I just called you on being cruel and homophobic - since you seem to think male rape is an appropriate punishment as opposed to an expression of intimacy. Need I remind you that I do not support the death penalty - you just can't seem to get that through your head.

So, You repeatedly call for or condone sexual assault to be used as an extra-judicial punishment. I call you on it and express disagreement.

And you consider that projection?

I guess we can then ignore you every time you call something projection from this point on because it's obvious you just don't know what it is.

It's also telling that you didn't retract or explain your promoting of sexual assault as a form of extra-judicial punishment.

No, the one thing we can agree on is that when you buttheads are faced with reprehensible behavior by people ideologically aligned with you, blaming Mark for it is the first card you play, especially is he is on the side of justice. Throw in some confusing information to mis-characterize him and we are off topic, just like you want it. That basically makes you all liars unless you want to return to the issue at hand of bullying and homophobia.

Here are the facts. www.bullyingstatistics.org/content/gay-bullying-statistics.html

No really on board with the whole "the teacher made me kill myself" narrative.

Maybe we should be like Canada where they think teachers "co-parent".

GuardDuck said...

Hey, don't confuse the issue. I didn't even read the story. So don't try to play any ideological games. I simply went off his condoning of extra-judicial punishment.

You can ignore basically anything he says when he counters with his 'projection', 'flipping', or any one of the points he uses as it is nothing more than a defense mechanism for his shabby ideas.

Great link, Stern Fan. Here's a very important point...

According to recent gay bullying statistics, gay and lesbian teens are two to three times as more likely to commit teen suicide than other youths. About 30 percent of all completed suicides have been related to sexual identity crisis. Students who also fall into the gay, bisexual, lesbian or transgendered identity groups report being five times as more likely to miss school because they feel unsafe after being bullied due to their sexual orientation. About 28 percent out of those groups feel forced to drop out of school altogether. Although more and more schools are working to crack down on problems with bullying, teens are still continuing to bully each other due to sexual orientation and other factors.

These are sobering statistics and why we can't tolerate the bigotry we see in our culture towards the GLBT community. These kids need love and support, not vilification.

Sure. But not by gleefully sending bigots to be raped in prison. And I know you'd rather be in people's asses than talking with them to their faces, Mark, but your evident approval of anal probulating and ass-raping of people sounds barbaric, to easy the least. How long before you approve of setting up 'national razors' to improve the gene pool?
