Holy SheeeIt!

Christopher Buckley, son of the late ultra conservative William F Buckley, has endorsed Barack Obama for president.

I am beginning to feel comfortable.

You should have put in the link, Mark. Buckely's article is here.

He makes pretty much the same case I would, though I would add the following:

McCain has abandoned everything that made him an attractive candidate in the first place, in order to curry favor with the Republican party.

A few days ago McCain was at the "town hall meeting" in the Twin Cities where the crowd booed him when he said Obama was a decent man you don't have to fear.

The problem with McCain is the Republican party has become. If he is elected, many of the people who brought us eight years of monumental incompetence and greed will remain in power. The Republicans have to lose in order for them to clean house, to cast out the vicious thugs who call for Obama's assassination at campaign rallies.

I voted for Gerald Ford in 1976 and John Anderson in 1980. I was a member of the Republican party from 1976 to 1980. After that I was drummed out by the anti-abortion nut jobs whose "pro-life" mantra always seems to degenerate into death threats against those who disagree with them.

The Republican party has been hijacked by a gang of opportunists and thugs who employ the same tactics as the National Socialists in 1930s Germany. The fundamentally unAmerican masterminds behind this debasement of American politics must be drummed out like all the Republican moderates were in the eighties and nineties.
