Images of the burning of a Koran would undoubtedly be used by extremists in Afghanistan -- and around the world -- to inflame public opinion and incite violence ," Gen. David Petraeus said. "Were the actual burning to take place, the safety of our soldiers and civilians would be put in jeopardy and accomplishment of the mission would be made more difficult."
That doesn't matter to Jones, though, The burning will go ahead as promised. So much for religious tolerance.
And we're back to book burning....again? Sheesh....

There is no justification for what he is doing under "Christianity". This is a pure political play using a church as a tool. Multitudes of pastors around the country are calling on them to stop. Disgraceful.
I can't wait to see how this plays out. The New Black Panther Party has promised violence if he goes through with the book burning.
Would it be in bad taste to serve baby shaped crackers to the on lookers???
Oddly, no comment at all from Palin and other GOP leaders.
THANK YOU SO MUCH BRENDAN. I'M THANKFUL WE HAVE ANOTHER PERSON (NOT JUST MARKADELPHIA) WHO IS KEEPING AN EYE ON THE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT IN POWER RIGHT NOW!!! AS USUAL, NO COMMENT FROM YOU ABOUT OBAMA, EVER.
I too am disappointed that Palin and other GOP leaders have not spoken out about this. First, expressing their unqualified disgust for whatever the purported "message" is. Second, and more importantly, expressing their unqualified supported for this guy to burn the Koran in protest if he so chooses.
It's ironic that if this act leads to violence against Americans, here or overseas, then those committing the violence are not only proving themselves to be exactly what this guy claims they are, but they are also guilty of hate crimes.
If the "international community" actually has any clout then I demand they come forward immediately and condemn in advance any retaliation against "Americans" because of the actions of 1 American.
Oddly, no comment at all from Palin and other GOP leaders.
Ask and ye shall receive.

I'm not assuming too much by thinking you consider Beck one of the "GOP leaders", am I?
This was only after Keith called her out on it last night on Countdown.
How could that be? Nobody watches his show.
It's not like it matters.
They could have supported it, been against it, whatever. They could have jumped right in with an opinion (as with the "Ground Zero Mosque", where they expressed the same opinions they did at the links above), waited until pressed, or stayed silent.
It wouldn't have made a lick of difference in the opinions of people like keith fan or brendan. We already have the opinions from the GZM issue as a comparison.
Personally I don't see why any of them bothered. It's not as if there was any possible hope of advantage for any of them from it.
