Well, That Didn't Take Long

We knew it was only a matter of time.

Santorum says Obama agenda not 'based on Bible'

No, that's not a headline from the Onion. It's real, folks!

Obama's agenda is "not about you. It's not about your quality of life. It's not about your jobs. It's about some phony ideal. Some phony theology. Oh, not a theology based on the Bible. A different theology," Santorum told supporters of the conservative Tea Party movement at a Columbus hotel.

This sounds so familiar....I can't quite place my finger on it...hmm....oh yeah....

10. Invoking the Christian God. This is similar to othering and populism. With morality politics, the idea is to declare yourself and your allies as patriots, Christians and "real Americans" (those are inseparable categories in this line of thinking) and anyone who challenges them as not. Basically, God loves Fox and Republicans and America. And hates taxes and anyone who doesn't love those other three things. Because the speaker has been benedicted by God to speak on behalf of all Americans, any challenge is perceived as immoral. It's a cheap and easy technique used by all totalitarian entities from states to cults.

(…a credit to how bored I am on a Saturday night to be reading your blog...)

Being that every 3rd or 4th post here is you wrapping yourself in the Bible and touting the rightousness of leftest thought, how do you differentiate yourself from him? You both have preconceived ideas of a “Christian” ideal and both lambast the opposition for not following suit. Sounds remarkably similar.

Not at all, dave. The Bible is very clear about serving the poor and least among us. I don't see a problem at all with the government of the greatest country on earth doing that on a large scale. Do you?

He that chooses a religion over Islam, it will not be accepted from him and in the world to come he will be one of the lost.
