Hating Pope Frank

I've been laughing my socks right off of my feet as the Right reacts to Pope Francis and his vision that primarily involves Christians actually (gasp!) doing the work of Jesus. You know, feeding the poor...taking care of the sick and less fortunate...as opposed to judging others and being maniacally obsessed with sex. None have been more shocked than Sarah "I'm on a book tour so it's time for me to say dumb shit" Palin.

OMG, Sarah!! Jesus was, in fact, a liberal:)

Wow, you can't even hear words and understand what they mean.....

You do realize that her use of the word liberal was not as a political descriptor don't you?

You do realize that not every use of the word liberal is not a synonym for democrat don't you?

You do realize that "a liberal application of 'product'", "a liberal interpretation of 'words'" and "a liberal 'politically' as applied to the US political system" are not the exact same usage of the word 'liberal' don't you?

No, of course you don't.

Riiiiiiigggggghhhhhtttt. That must be why the book of John doesn't mention Jesus teaching about taking care of the poor even once. Instead, this is the primary issue:

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
— John 20:30–31

Check this out:

That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.

— Mark 1:32–39

Wow, what a great compassionate liberal Jesus was. His preaching took priority over healing the sick and caring for the poor! And what was He preaching?

Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
— Mark 1:14–15

Which of the greatest commandments comes first, Mark? Here's a hint:

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.
— Matthew 22:37–38

Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
— Mark 12:29–30

If you "love" your neighbor, but refuse to love God, are you saved? According to you, the answer is yes. According to Jesus, no.
