See, This Is What Happens...

The first term Senator from Missouri, Claire McCaskill, was pretty much toast this fall. Even with the nomination of the extremely conservative Todd Akin, she was likely going to lose the election.

Funny things always happen, though, when you have a far right wing candidate...things like them opening their mouths and talking.

First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare…If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.

Wow.

Do we really want to trust someone this ignorant with the task of running our country?

The folks over at National Review are calling for him to step aside.

Was it "Rape Rape" he was talking about or just "Rape".

Fake outrage markadelphia. Whoopi Goldbergs comments (aboce) flew under your radar.

Are those the same folks that are calling for Mitt Romney to release his tax returns, dave?

So far, neither candidate is listening.

"I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go."

No, no we don't.

Wildly different circumstances, but yes, some at NRO are, and some aren't, calling for the tax returns.
But we both know that's nothing but a fishing expidition to keep the focus off, well, off anything that has to do with your guy.

If Mitt Romney came out and said that everything with our tax system was fine and he wouldn't change a thing, then, yes, I'd say the calls for releasing his tax returns would be silly. But he's not saying that.

Instead, he wants to vastly change our tax system and it's perfectly acceptable to use how it would affect him as an example. President Obama has done this with his own tax returns even going so far as to say that his policies would actually raise his taxes.

Obviously, the Romney team has calculated that releasing them is worse than hiding them. So, stop playing the victim card, dave, and blaming the liberal media and the Democrats. He should own what is in there.

Oh?

Where Obama's medical records then?

Mark Ward said...

I don't get how the defense of Romney not releasing his tax returns is a comment about Obama's medical records. What's the latest on the latter from inside the bubble, GD?

GuardDuck said...

Did you not just use the excuse that Romney wanting to adjust the tax system is a valid reason to insist he release his tax records?

Same logic (I know, not your strong suit ), Obama adjusted our medical system - why aren't you demanding the release of his medical records?

That bubble you live in must be constructed of pure cognitive dissonance.

Ah, I thought there was some sort of hubbub about Obama's medical records circulating around unicorn land.

As I am sure you are award, the president's annual physical is available to the public. Here is an example:

Here is what he released as a candidate in 2008.

http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/05/obama_releases_health_informat.html

So, he has released his private medical information. Has Mitt Romney released similar information?

GuardDuck said...

Similar to a summary of his current health? That would be like a summary of Romney's current net worth - so yes he has.

Wanting Romney to release past 20 years of tax info would be like requiring Obama to release ALL his medical records over the same time period.

Mark Ward said...

That's all you have for a defense, GD? It's awfully weak for you to pivot like that but that's what happens when you set up false equivalencies. Mitt Romney doesn't want to release his tax returns because he's benefiting from the current system. This we know based on the one return he has released. Likely, it will get worse as we see possibly could have paid even lower taxes. That wouldn't play well with the middle class.

Barack Obama's health history isn't going to benefit from PPACA. He has plenty of money to pay for this care and that of his family for the rest of his (and their) lives. Having an exchange set up to provide health care for more Americans has no correlation whatsoever with Barack Obama's triglyceride level over the years. But the cap gains tax rate that Mitt Romney is paying does have a lot to do with his economic plan on taking care of our debt and deficit.

We're going to try a little experiment here, GD. It's very simple: admit that you are wrong in the comparison that you brought up. If you want my respect, start admitting that I'm right about some things.

GuardDuck said...

Admit you are right about what?

That you hold the opinion that he should release his tax records and you then presented the reason that justify your opinion?

Or are you referring to your supplying of a link to Obama's medical 'records' that are no such thing?

Logic Mark:

R wants to vastly change taxes, therefore he should release his tax records.

Is, whether you like it or not the same argument as:

O vastly changed healthcare, therefore he should have released his medical records.

Mark Ward said...

But how do the specifics of the president's medical records relate to his changes in health care? You're going to have to be more specific. Moreover, the president has been far more forthcoming with this medical history than Mitt Romney has with this financial history.

Mitt Romney is calling for the tax system to be overhauled with specific changes to his tax bracket. I think it's very important to see how that will affect him. The president's medical history has nothing really to do with the health exchange, hence it's a false equivalency.

GuardDuck said...

Bullshit. As I already pointed out, Obama has released a summary of his health - not detailed original records going back twenty years. That summary is directly comparable to a current summary of Romney's finances.

Saying Romney is worth $X is the same as saying Obamas health is current X.

Mark Ward said...

Where are the summaries of the last 20 years of Romney's finances? I've only seen the 2010 tax return and the estimate for 2011. And where is the summary of Mitt Romney's health history? And an equal physical exam from the last couple of years that is similar to the president's?

So far, you haven't adequately explained why the president's medical records relate to his health care plan. For example, you could say that he has a pre-existing condition and that's why he passed it. Or he wants his kids to be covered until they are 26. But he has money so neither one of those would make sense. I guess what I'm wondering is what specifically is he hiding that we would need to see in order to gauge his handling of health care reform.

GuardDuck said...

Right, because it's patently ridiculous. Just like your inadequate explanation as to why we need to see Romneys' 1992 tax return so we can somehow see what would change if he changes tax rates for people in 2014.
