If Karl Rove is Saying it...

...then Mitt Romney has a problem.

This is an issue that has hurt Romney because again it’s fed up people who already have an instinct and a suspicion about him [that] he’s a rich guy, [and] must be hiding something. But I’ve also been a little bit mystified about Romney’s response.

We all are as well, Karl.

Rove says, "I do pay a higher effective tax rate than President Obama. And I do make more charitable contributions as a percentage of my income than either he or the vice president."

Okay, Karl. Put your money where your mouth is and release your tax returns to prove it. Of course, we'll find out that those "charities" are things like your own Super PAC.

Unless you're feeding starving children, funding cancer research, supporting a college or university, or a real altruistic endeavor, it's not really charity.

If you're contributing money to organizations that are spending it to advance your own political and religious agendas, it's just money laundering and tax evasion.

You don't think so? Hezbollah and Hamas perform many charitable religious activities: feeding and educating children, but they also support the destruction of Israel. Some Catholic churches in the United States supported the IRA and funneled money to terrorists in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

One man's charity is another man's terrorist organization. If Republicans were serious about tax "reform" charitable deductions would be the first thing to be ripped from the tax code. Because everyone knows it's just a scam to get the government to foot the bill for people's private agendas.
