Oh, The Irony...

I find it incredibly ironic in the most devastating of ways that for all the protestations about socialism, the right wing of this country (which includes republicans and libertarians) are doing everything in their power to ensure a plutocracy.

I guess history begins for them the day Ronald Reagan took office.

In your mind, do the ends justify the means? Because the elite in your party sure are going far to achieve their desired ends.

Is it ok to protest outside a politician's HOME?

Is it ok to protest outside a bank official's HOME?

Is it ok to systematically stop business by protesting in a BANK?

Is it ok to bring the economy to it's knees by urging people to stop paying their mortgage?

If Islamic Extremists put forth this idea, shouldn't they be put on trial for economic terrorism? But it's ok when Socialist Americans do it?

It truly is upside down world.

At a loss for words regarding world events? Is there anything going on today? Protests? Wars by Bush/Cheney started recently? Any calls for revoking a recent Nobel peace prize?

Nothing?

Oh. Okay.

The main thing going on - there is an ad for townhall.com on the blog right now. Boo-ya.

M's definition of plutocracy - someone has shit I want.

2.5% dude - you got your panties all bunched up over 2.5%.

Juris, why must you ascribe your own perception of humanity to me? The things I want aren't material at all. I'd like good health for my children, wife, family and friends. I'd like to spend more time with the people I love that live out of town including my best friend of 32 years, John Waxey. I'm looking forward to disc golfing with last in line once our eternal winter ends.

And I want welfare capitalism, not socialism, to continue to be the political and economic structure of our country. It won't stay that way if less people continue to grab bigger pieces of the pie.

How do you figure? I don't complain about what other people have that I don't.

The things I want aren't material at all.

Yet you constantly lament that there are people that have more than you - and it is so unjust. What is any reasonable person to conclude other than you possess an overweening sense of envy?

It won't stay that way if less people continue to grab bigger pieces of the pie.

And what has Warren Buffett, George Soros, Bill Gates or Steve Jobs ever done that took money away from you that you didn't willingly part with? What? They all have a bigger slice of the pie than you - tell me how what they did is okay but what someone else did isn't. Is that too fucking much to ask?

You may believe that to be true.

However, is it possible that you just want those who have more than you to use it to benefit those who you deem worthy? Not benefit you necessarily; but the poor, the weak, the downtrodden?

But who gets to pick the 'givers' vs the 'takers'? No matter who picks, someone is going to get better off - and someone will be worse off.

That method will always end up with the 'supported' overwhelming the 'supporting'.

Do some need help? Of course.
Does 85% of the population need government assistance? If so, we are screwed.

Because that's the standard perception of people that complain about other people's money. "Oh, they must be envious." Most people that I know that have a lot of money aren't nearly as happy as I am so why would I want that?

What I'm talking about is a systemic problem. It's got nothing to do with my feelings at all. We are heading towards a very precarious situation in this country if more wealth continues to be transferred upwards.

But that was really not the point of this post. The point of this post was irony. People bitch about socialism yet want to set up the table so conditions are more ripe for it.

Oh, you mean one of the voices in your head. God must be jealous of your ability to read the minds of every other person on the planet.

But that was really not the point of this post.

Yes, by all means, don't address my question about Buffett et al. Wouldn't want you to strain your brain. I should just accept what you say without explanation or evidence.

Whatever you say Preach.
