This Gun Toting T Shirt Comes With A Warning

Don't reach for the fake gun on your T-shirt...wow, really? How about not buying the fucking thing in the first place!!

I will admit that, given the advent of social media, the whole open carry thing is now being spread far and wide. This can only result in good things:)

I'm afraid there's still one thing I don't understand, though, If I walk into a Chipotle or department store and I see a dude with a gun slung over his back, how do I know he's not a "bad" guy? What if there are several people with open carry guns? How do I know if they are "good" or "bad?"

If guns are allowed in schools and universities and there is a shooting, how can I tell who the "good" guys are and who the "bad" guys are?

You can't.

But you also can't tell if that guy in front of you at Chipotle who has a gun under his shirt - that you can't see - is a good guy or a bad guy.

I don't understand the point to worrying about a person openly carrying a gun. Every other person in the room could have a concealed gun and you wouldn't know it.

In case you weren't clear about the rules...

Criticisms about groups of people (liberals are all blah blah blah...conservatives are all blah blah blah) are also acceptable.

Also,

answering questions with questions or arguments about arguments will not be allowed.

which is what you are doing here.

Same warning that I gave NMN. I'll start labeling your comments as spam in addition to deleting them if you don't follow the rules.

The same way they are everywhere else -- by their behaviour and actions. If it's such a huge problem, surely you or Nikto would be able to cite dozens (or hundreds) of instances from the last couple of decades in the many states that have concealed carry and/or open carry? And if we're not talking at least hundreds of cases, then in a nation of 330 million people, it's statistically insignificant. And probably far less of a problem than police conducting no-knock raids on wrong houses (or the "right" house based on bogus information that wasn't investigated properly) and gunning down innocent people reacting to a violent assault on their house, often late at night. And please don't misinterpret this (again) as a mindless hatred of government. Cops have difficult jobs, but to recognize that in some places, some cops have misused or outright abused their power isn't "hatred" of cops or government. Unfortunately, it's far easier to find many instances of that than it is to find even a bare handful (if that) of what you're asking about. A sense of proportion would suggest that the latter is a more significant problem.

And no, schools and universities are not special universes of their own where different rules apply for discriminating bad guys from good guys than for everywhere else.

I think it would be extremely difficult in an active shooting to be able to discern who is an accomplice and who is a savior. More people with guns simply means more confusion and far more of a chance for an accident...something that occurs more often than spree shootings.

Mark,

I've personally responded to scenes of violence where both 'good' guys and 'bad' guys were actively participating upon my arrival.

From that personal experience I tell you that you are over emphasising how difficult it is to discern who is who.
